[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine is a powerhouse. I did my homework in researching the top laptop and the ThinkPadX1 Extreme Gen lives up to it's promise and more. The keyboard is smooth, screen display is amazing and the i9 core processor gives an incredible user experience. The only slight challenge is the shell gets "greasy" looking fast. My biggest issue was the abysmal customer service with Lenovo in trying to the get the machine during COVID. I get that companies were challenged in getting parts etc, but it's about setting up the expectation. Not overpromising. I had to wait nearly three months for the machine custom ordered. I have always purchased Lenovo's and never had a problem with customer service but this time I was very disappointed. Thank god the machine made it worth the wait.

Great Linux laptop

I use this daily as my work laptop. It works great with Linux and delivers on the promise of a powerful laptop in a compact package. The fans only kick in when you work it hard, the keyboard has (what I consider to be) lovely tactile keys with good travel, you have a great selection of ports and the screen is clear and bright.
I love the fact you can customise the build to get lots of RAM and dual SSDs, which is harder to find that you'd expect. It's not a gaming laptop but it can still handle gaming with acceptable performance.
I've been using my Gen2 daily for 18 months and it's been flawless.
I would recommend this to a friend!
