[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m happy with what I can do with it, but I tend to need the assistance that I might have gotten if I could sit down with someone and tend to my technophobia.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This device is grossly underpowered. I got one with 64 GB of system memory, which is, as you would expect, no longer a bottleneck, but rather the processor is supremely underpowered for most common tasks like Google Meet, etc. Yes, I can have a million tabs open in chrome with system memory to spare, but that would cause the whole machine to grind to a halt (literally, like BSOD). The screen would have been great, but I made the mistake of getting the one with a built in screen protector, which basically ruins it for anything except word editing on a perfectly ergonomic desk.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Frustration free. Fingerprint sensor works well. Really like the privacy feature on the camera. An sd slot would have been nice. I'd recommend only getting the privacy screen if you need it for work. I ordered it by accident, not realizing what the abbreviations stand for, and it works great, but a regular screen would have been better for me
Good laptop. Everything was as I expected. It is good that it has USB 3 type A port as well because some latest modern laptops has only USB 3 type C port only.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fast and perfect size to carry around during the day.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My HP ProBook 4440s laptop from Oct 2013 with Windows 7 and 4 GB RAM needed to be replaced. After looking at the Dell XPS, HP Spectre, Lenovo Thinkpad, and other laptops, I settled on the HP EliteBook 840 G7 with 14” display, Windows 10, i5 Intel processor, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD drive, 400 nit display, and infrared camera (so that I could use Windows Hello to log in). I chose the EliteBook 840 G7 in this configuration because of positive online reviews, its features, and the price.
Upon receiving, the laptop started right up. There was a small amount of bleed through in the upper left of the display upon start up, but I had seen that in an online review, and it was a non-issue once the laptop booted up. Windows 10 required two updates, and the computer hung up on one of the updates. HP technical support promptly resolved the issue.
The laptop is extremely nice. Construction was excellent with no noticeable gaps. There was a small pinpoint of anodizing missing on the cover which was annoying, but I got over it. The EliteBook 840 G7 is much thinner and lighter than the ProBook 4440s. The colors and sharpness of the display are great, the audio is fine (not a lot of bass), and the processing speed is great for what I use the computer for (Internet, Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint). The keyboard keys are shallower than those on the ProBook 4440s. While I prefer the beefier keys on the ProBook, I expect that the EliteBook’s thin body necessitated the shallower keys. The texture of the keys is pleasing, and typing is accurate. I do wish that the up and down arrows had been full keys (like on the ProBook) instead of half keys.
My only complaint with the EliteBook and the reason for 4 stars is the camera. The online reviews noted that the camera was nothing special. The online reviews were correct. In a ZOOM meeting, the camera’s image is passable but for a mid-tier business laptop, HP should have included a better camera.
Overall, the EliteBook 840 G7 is a solid computer. After the Windows 10 update, I have had no issues with the laptop for the 2 ½ months that I have owned it.
