Missing their Market

These speakers have been touted the soundbar killer and it seems they are going for this multi-use minimalist crowd with this product. Well I certainly fit that demographic and I have to say I am not impressed with the features of The Fives. I think the sound is probably good, but I can't tell at this point. I want to believe it's there but I just can't seem to find it behind the muffle of the boomy bass. If there was a way to flatten them out I would know for sure. Sportscasters voices get lost watching sports. Guitars and vocals seem to merge and drift off to insignificance.
The dynamic bass boost is actually fun and I would love to experiment with it using various sources and levels but you can't do that. It's off or on, and they both sound boomy. The app has promised an EQ but they are late to ship. Once that is here it will hopefully fix all this, but I can't say I'm confident it will. The current iOS app freezes and becomes unresponsive despite the fact that its only feature is being an online manual and startup guide. It can connect to the speakers but it can't tell you what firmware version you are running, let alone assist with updating. And that's where some people are going to have to roll up their sleeves. If you want to update the firmware to get the "bass cut" capability you are going to need a USB flash drive formatted for FAT32 and no larger than 8GB. No problem if you got one handy. I don't. And good luck finding one if you don't either. My 32GB wouldn't work and it took me some googling before finding this size limitation. I don't get it, but then again I don't understand why the only way to update firmware on a connected device is through a thumb drive!
The size of the sound that comes from these things is stupid. I mean it is hard to believe these little guys are capable looking at them. They definitely surprise you there. And there is a ton of potential. But the fact that there is no EQ support in the app is huge when considering there is no simple way to adjust without one. So two stars with the potential for four or five if the ever get the app where it needs to be. Will update

Good build, but EQ adjustment options are required

High-end speakers and amplifier, with extraordinary connectivity ... but appalling EQ options. I am delighted with my Klipsch 600, a dynamic and lively sound. I needed to change another system linked to my tv and I thought of Klipsch versus options like KEF, assuming the brand's seal would prevail. It is clear that its acoustic components and the circuit are of high quality and they offer a warm and robust sound, but it seems that they designed it thinking obsessively about the bass, boosting it in extremes and neglecting the rest of the frequencies, to the point of preventing by all means its manual adjustment. And although the frequency already seems inclined to the bass, all the options of the control go in the line of reinforcing them, without any option to enhance mids or treble. It can be pleasant with movies or classical music, but with other styles it is as if the speakers were sounding from inside a drawer, without a trace of the crystalline impact of other Klipsch models. There is no way to enhance the sound or oxygenate it in case of muted recordings. Thus, to take a well-known example, in songs like Dire Straits' Sultans of Swing, it is as if the cymbals were sounded in the distance through the kick drum microphone. And it is that sometimes you want to give the sound brighter ... I've been forced to add an external equalizer and everything has changed in an extraordinary way, but of course, that also implies using a DAC as a bridge, and both of good quality to respect the height of the speakers. The fact is that the price increases even more and it loses sense to have paid so much for its wide connectivity if in the end it is necessary to add a DAC. You would have had it as easy as adding the equalization options for this model in the Klipsch Connect App..

I bought the fives upgrading from the 15pm. I was impressed with the 15pm BUT I wasn’t expecting that big of an upgrade. I put these in my bedroom more for music listening and I’m very pleased. With Apple Music upgrading the audio quality of their music, two home runs!!!! Im a klipsch guy right down the line and the fives will keep me that way for a long time to come. I will admit it took me some time to adjust my sub to get the right bass balance but once I did, two thumbs up. Btw, even at low volumes, the music keeps rocking.

beautiful Design and strong Sound

English: Super design, fair price and great sound. I like the two wheels on the main box. Also the switch with "left or right" is very practical - with other boxes you have to dive into the menu for this. BlueTooth AptX HD is also very good, the digital inputs anyway.
Cons: a power button is missing so that you can switch off the boxes completely and an EQ is also missing, but this should soon be submitted via app.

Perfect soundbar replacement

I convinced my wife to buy these to replace a soundbar she’d been frustrated with almost since the day I hooked it up. I have a full Klipsch Reference system in the theater room so I wanted to have that sound in the living room. I was disappointed that the Fives don’t have the same lively detailed sound my Reference speakers do considering the price but other than that they are impressive. They are much livelier playing music from a phone or tablet compared to the tv so keep the source in mind when judging. Either way they sound really good and much larger than their footprint would lead you to expect. The bass response is surprisingly good from such small speakers. A subwoofer is not needed unless you need rock bottom sub bass. The variety of inputs makes them a great value for an all in one compact solution for home entertainment. We use ours to watch tv and listen to streaming music. They get loud enough for most uses/occasions but not ear piercing like some people might like. These are for daily living, not wall shaking party/concert use. I’d buy these again in a heartbeat.

Great pair of desktop speakers to pair with Turn t

I bought these powered speakers to pair with a Pro-ject Debut Carbon Evo turn table and to stream digitally to them from external devices (Alexa and phone). I was going for simplicity since I didn't own any audio equipment and was tight on space. They are so versatile and I was blown away at how easy they were to setup and the sound was impressive. I have been wondering if I could get a better soundstage from an external pre-amp (instead of what was included in the speakers), but for now i'm satisfied and have chosen to upgrade my phono cartridge instead. My next move is to incorporate the speakers in with my TV and then i'll be all setup.

Good sound at low and very high levels. Too much bass, especially when located near walls, in small rooms. Active subwoofer with regulated level may by helpful in this case (!). Some software problems will be solved, I hope. But actualisation of firmware/software is not available so far.
Pros: Excellent micro- and macro dynamic., Good stereophony, crisp high, accurate midranges, Very accurate sound even at low levels!
Cons: Automatic standby cannot be turned off., Automatic turning on., No mechanical electric power switch., Too high bass level in small rooms.
