Extremely uneven backlighting

i was a little put off how the 50 inch has neutered features like the lack of xcelerator turbo+, ost pro, hdr12x, etc since all other sizes have it in the q80a line and is one of samsung's upper mid range panels. i was shocked at how sloppy and poor the display was. immediately i noticed how spotty and uneven the backlight is. it has an especially bad ripple effect along the top of the screen, but any time the scene pans, you can see dark sections all about the screen where backlighting isnt distributed properly. this display is no better looking than my 12 year old edge lit panasonic budget display. really poor quality. i got another brand at the same time for another room and wish i had just gotten 2.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

To ensure your picture is fully optimized, please be sure your firmware is up to date with version 1901.0 which includes picture quality updates. You can check this by going to: Settings > Support > Software Update.
If this firmware version is not yet available on your TV, you can download the update on a USB drive and manually update your TV: 1. On Samsung's website (upper right corner), go to: Support > Manuals & Software > Find your TV model. 2. Download the update and extract it to the root of a USB thumb drive. (Do not put it in any folders on the thumb drive.) 3. Connect the USB thumb drive to a USB port on your TV. 4. Navigate to Settings > Support > Software Update, select Update Now, and then select Yes. 5. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the updated software.

Phenomenal TV

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are incredibly impressed with this TV. Our old one was only 50 inches so going up to 65 was surreal. As soon as my husband set it up I was blown away with the picture quality, so sharp and crisp! My husband turned on a super old Superbowl game and immediately commented how amazing the quality is and how this TV made an old video look so good and clear!
We we able to hook up an Xbox right away, which my husband enjoyed way too much because it was so much more realistic than on our old TV playing his NBA2K20. We also hooked up our Fire stick and didn't have any issues, everything was very smooth. I love all the apps on the TV, makes it very easy to use and navigate. The remote is also super cool and sleek, I enjoy using it.
Right now we just put it on a TV stand in our bedroom but I can't wait to hang it on the wall in our living room to show it off!
Overall, we could not be happier with this TV and thoroughly enjoy it every night! 100% recommend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Q80A has been an excellent TV since unboxing. Easy pedistal to install but opted for the wall mount. The TV walks you through the set up and I had my favorite movies up and running quick. Amazing colors and true blacks. The pc to TV feature has been amazing. Making work from home that much better with the screen upgrade. I am able to enjoy movie nights from the comfort of my own home with hbo max and I'm finally able to enjoy 4k gaming on my Xbox-Series-X.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Been enjoying the tv so far! Amazing colors and deep blacks. Spending time at home has been a blast with this TV. I'm able to binge my favorite shows on my streaming services and also enjoy my favorite video games in 4k on my Xbox-Series-X.

The in screen lighting makes the pictures come to life with vivid and solid color for every type of movie and show. We love watching cartoons with our kiddo and action packed movies after she is asleep. The object tracking sound feature makes our surround sound system zip around us like we are a part of the sound. The soundbar also makes sure the sound is harmonious from beginning to ending. With the TV set up in our living room, we don't even worry about light filtering in from the windows, since the adaptive picture feature automatically manages the brightness and contrast of the screen.

The sound quality is great can't wait to watch football games on the tv., and entertain family and friends listening to the music and watching videos. The best part I can work everything right from my phone without even getting off the couch. This is an awesome tv

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First impression was the wonderful way this Television was packaged. It was nicely tucked in the box and Styrofoam. My wife helped me take the TV out of the box and we both were impressed how sleek the television is. The tv stands were as easy as 1,2,3 to pop in and put together. I liked how the remote was solar as well as USB-C charging capabilities. This saves money on batteries. The set up was super easy and is very user friendly. Once set-up, the apps were easy to navigate. The sound of the speakers were crisp and sharp. The picture was wonderful and made you feel like you were there in the screen. I also enjoyed when you turn the TV off, how the screen seems to mimics eyes closing shut. Overall I was very impressed with Samsung. I think they really hit all the marks I was looking for in a TV. I would definitely recommend this set and brand to anyone.

Amazing, Crips and Vibrant

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Samsung TV has to be the best user setup experience I have encountered. The interactive setup provides the user two options using a mobile device or a manual setup process. I chose the mobile device process, and the setup process was complete in a few clicks. Once I got through the setup, it was time to put this 4k display through some test. The 4k display is amazingly stunning, the colors are rich and vibrant, and the blacks are accurate and not washed out. The audio seems to adjust and redirect its sounds dynamically with the objects moving on the screen. The Ambient mode is a nice novelty feature. You can enable the screen to display a decor picture art display or feature any personal photos you may choose to have as a background when your TV is in standby mode. My wife especially likes this feature since we display our family portrait, and the TV is more like a portrait centerpiece than a TV on the wall. Overall we are very please with Samsungs latest QLED series TV.
