I bought my speaker a month ago and I’m already having problems with it. Claims to have battery that last 12 hours and it dies after maybe two hours
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Our JBL Flip 5's playtime would last up to 12 hours. This may vary depending on volume and music content. Please try to use a different type-C charging cable or adapter when you're charging the unit. Also, you would need to check the LED indicator on the speaker to make sure it is fully charged. Please try charging the unit overnight. If the volume knob goes from 0-10, the Flip5 sounds great up to around 8. After that comes a bit of clipping and distortion. Overall it’s a great little package!

So I bought a flip 5 and it is the CS sub-model and it sounds terrible right out of the box, compared to my friends old TL sub-model! Be aware of this! Different models are made with different materials!!!

Our JBL Flip 5 doesn't have other variants. You may be referring to the serial number of the unit which doesn't have any difference with device performance and quality. The serial number is simply for tracking the date when the unit was manufactured and for us to validate the authenticity of your product as we have this information stored in our system. Great Product!

We had a JBL Flip from years ago that finally gave up. We knew that we hadn't been as satisfied with other portable speakers so we knew we wanted to still with the JBL Flip. We are so glad we did. Very quality product that we use all the time!
