I bought this for my son's Christmas gift. I decided to check it out before wrapping it. It sounds really good. I almost decided to keep it for myself and buy him something else. LOL!!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Amazing Sound, Big Problems with PartyBoost
on December 5, 2020
Posted by: Rad Jeans
I bought a JBL Flip 5 about two months ago. I was blown away by the improvements from the 3 and the 4. It picks up much deeper bass, while not distorting. The mids and highs are decent and the overall soundstage is fluid. Music from indie rock to hip hop sound fantastic. It is a little bigger than it’s predecessors, feels sturdy, and looks even better. It’s a bit heavier and does not take calls, but I don’t mind those changes. I highly recommend this product if you’re only wanting one speaker. I have not had technical issues with a single speaker.
Two speakers is where the disappointment begins. The one sounded so good, and partyboost capability is advertised as a selling point, so why wouldn’t two sound incredible?! They do. I bought another but playing them together has been a frustrating experience. Whether using the JBL connect app or not, they do not link well. It worked the first time, using the app to link them and set to stereo mode. After that they constantly crackle and cut out and cannot be used at all this way.
I have found a workaround, but it’s highly annoying. However, the stereo sound is SO good that I have decided to suffer through it and hope that JBL will repair this and hopefully this fix will help them in figuring out how.
1) From Bluetooth setting Forget both Flips (you may need to have Flips off)
2) Turn flips on and pair to Bluetooth
3) Open the Connect app and let it find devices
4) Choose your mode and click the + to link the 2nd speaker
5) Play music
6) After each listening session you will have to repeat this tedious process.
This occasionally fails as well. Occasionally, it fails at “getting ready” your speaker. You will have to start this process over again.
I have been a loyal JBL customer and have brought many friends to JBL at this point, so this is just so frustrating. I’ve come to expect top quality, even from their “budget” products. I hope they will solve this. If not I am all about checking out UE. I heard their products pair perfect and more quickly. JBL, your great quality has reeled me in and kept me interested but I’m not so won over to not jump ship.

Thanks for taking the time in providing your feedback on our JBL Flip 5. It's recommended that only one speaker is paired with your phone, as the second speaker you'll be using will connect with the speaker that is paired with the phone. You can connect the speakers by clicking on the PartyBoost button on them. You can check out this guide for more information: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FffQDaVdqc0

We would recommend trying out a different charging cable to charge your JBL Flip 5. Try using different power adapters or plug the unit into a laptop. You can also charge the unit overnight to make sure it will have a full charge. If you need more help, please reach out to our Customer Support and we'll check your options.

Shame on you JBL!! Buyer beware!

I have a JBL flip 4 and was given a flip 5 as an Xmas gift. I was very excited when I first received it because I was under the impression I could connect speakers throughout the house. Well apparently the flip 4 and 5 have two different connections (connect + vs partyboost)... REALLY JBL!?! Why should I be penalized for staying loyal to your product line!!!

Our JBL Flip 4 can't be connected with your JBL FLIP 5 because these two speakers have different technologies that are incompatible with one another. You may connect JBL Flip 4 with another JBL Flip 4, Xtreme 2, Pulse 3, Charge 4, and Boombox. If you have more questions, please reach out to our Customer Support here: https://bit.ly/351e98p

Loud crackling/disturbing noise
on January 2, 2021
Posted by: en_aar_ai
I bought this 2 months ago and then suddenly there was a loud crackling/disturbing noise from the speaker. It was so loud, I thought it was probably some fire alarm. I don't even listen to music that loud. I was scared to use it ever after.

Great sounds Bad color

This device works really well, the sound is clear and loud. The color I bought is "Pink" and it most definitely is not pink. It is more like a nude or muave.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good sound, bad connection
on January 18, 2021

It sounds awesome and is generally easy to work. However, when my computer or phone is connected to any other bluetooth device (e.g., a wireless keyboard), it struggles to maintain the connection and gets super choppy, or will sometimes randomly get choppy or disconnect even when none of my other devices are connected or turned on. The JBL Flip 4 was more reliable.

We appreciate the feedback you've provided to us. We understand that our JBL Flip 5 didn't meet your expectations. To avoid signal interference, please note that Our Flip 5 has a maximum Bluetooth range of 10 - 15 meters, with no large objects blocking the line of sight. A distance farther than that would pose signal deterioration. Please reach out to our Customer Support if you have concerns, we're here to help: https://support.jbl.com/us/en/
