Sounds great good power will buy another.My only bug with it is they give you a big foam box to keep it in .it would be nice if they got rid of that and made a camera protector lens cover for both base ports .To protect it when put in a bag.i woud even buy them. Hence my 4 stars.

Nice speaker; poor features. DOESN'T LINK w/C+

The sound is a definite upgrade for the Flip 4, however it DOES sound noticeably more compressed.
I have 2 major complaints with this speaker, and ALL buyers should know:
1. THIS DOES NOT LINK WITH ANYTHING USING CONNECT+. Per their own tech support, none of the old speakers will pair with the new ones. The Flip 5 currently ONLY pairs with other 5s, the Pulse 4, and the Boombox 2.
2. The Bluetooth version is old, and there's no excuse for this is accordance with its release date.
I have 2 major complaints with this speaker, and ALL buyers should know:

Partyboost sucks

The only reason the price on this speaker is so low is because, while it's a great speaker, it has partyboost mode which means you can't connect to any other jbl speaker available. On top of that, it's still on bluetooth 4.2 and gives only slightly more range. Once this is updated to offer connect+ I'll get one to go with my charge 4.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Does not pair with Flip 4!

I went with JBL bluetooth speakers years ago because you are able to pair so many together. I current have 3 and so when one died recently, just thought to get the newest version, the Flip 5. Wrong move as it does not link with the flip 4. The sound is beautiful but I'm returning it and getting another Flip 4 to have stereo sound with my others.

Our JBL Flip 5 has the PartyBoost feature while Flip 4 has Connect +. Due to technology limitations, it isn't possible to pair and connect these two speakers together. As Bluetooth tech improves, so do our portable products. With the PartyBoost, we have worked on improving the Bluetooth range and stability with multiple speaker connections. You can connect Flip 5 with our Boombox 2, Pulse 4, Xtreme 3, and Charge 5.
