Don't buy the inter-connectivity hype...

I have a Charge 4 that sounds great and works well--I wasted an entire day today going back and forth to stores, buying and returning other JBL speaker models including this one because they're so unclear about how their devices interconnect. Apparently the Flip 4 would have connected with my Charge 4, but the 5 no longer can. What I've learned the very hard way today is that the Charge 4 connects via "Connect+", the Flip 5 connects via "Party Boost", and the Link 10 only connects via Chromecast--but supposedly the Flip 4 would also use Connect+. At this point however, I'm so fed up I don't plan on buying it to test it. Long story short--unless you're going to connect more than one of the same EXACT speaker, don't hold your breath.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Soooo dissapointed!!!!

My wife had the Flip 3 (I think) and we loved this speaker. I purchased the Flip 4 for her after the other got stolen, and we were extremely disappointed to learn JBL Flip speakers (or Charge) have a phone speaker any more. We returned both devices and are now looking to purchase another brand of speaker that offers this feature. This is a really sad thing, as the music quality in these speakers is outstanding. Unfortunately the lack of a phone speaker is a deal breaker. Why did you take away this feature?????
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Right speaker quit after only 4 or 5 days

When the flip 5 first arrived it sounded great. 4 or 5 days later I noticed it just didn't sound right. Come to find out sound was only coming from the left side and the right side quit. I only listen to it at around half volume and it stayed indoors on a counter. Very disappointing.

Our JBL Flip 5 has a single 44mm x 80mm racetrack driver. The design of the speaker's driver is located on the left side of the speaker.

Better than the Best!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this device on Aug 21st and I used / tested it for a week so that i can write this review. First of all the device looks great and comes with new feature (Party Boost Mode) which helps you to connect two JBL Flip 5 connect together and double your sound output.
Here are the things I notice with new JBL Flip 5:
1. Bass levels are increased as compared to earlier versions of Flip series (Boom Bass). It Sounds gr8!!!!
2. Treble levels are also increased as compared to earlier versions of Flip series.
3. There is no Aux input now. But still its does not matter since most of us now uses BT wireless technology.
4. Battery back up seems increased a little bit over earlier versions.
5. Its Water resistant/proof and comes with IPX7 environmental protection
6. Sound quality is crisp and clear and best in the category as compared to Sony wireless speaker and Bose Soundlink series.
7. Also now comes with USB C type charging port which is essential and easy to connect and charge.

Over the the product is great and awesome for any outdoor activity in most of the weather conditions.
I highly recommend this product if your are buying Bluetooth speaker Over Bose and Sony options.

another solid speaker from JBL

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this speaker late and wanted some time to really assess its features...i should have known what to expect as I have several other portable Bluetooth speakers from JBL.
The Flip5 is a solid a performer for its size..surprisingly solid bass and good volume as expected. Battery life is also very good lasting several hours ( I had to recharge after 10 hours of pretty loud playing) and charges quickly.
Comes in a variety of colors and fits easily in a bookbag. My favorite use is taking it to the
beach or having it next to me by the pool..
I haven't had the nerve to dunk it but it's x supposedly waterproof up to 3ft. I can say that splashes had no effect and would have probably ruined a regular speaker...overall, very pleased!

I love the USB-C charging it charges very fast. The sound is better than the FLIP 4 but it takes a fine tuned ear to hear the difference. I do wish y’all upgraded to Bluetooth 5.0. The features y’all took out like calling and using Siri through speaker are not a big deal to me since I didn’t use them anyway. The speaker being longer and heavier is not really noticeable. Overall I love the speaker. I do wish y’all would add color lights to the speaker for special effects.
