The JBL Flip 5, Waterproof Portable Bluetooth speaker provides a high quality sound experience while being extremely convenient to charge, connect, and transport. I purchased the JBL Flip 5 speaker in the color black, since my purchase I have been extremely happy with the product and its usage.
Connecting to the Speaker
The JBL Flip 5 is extremely convenient to connect to your phone. The speaker comes equipped with a bluetooth button on the side. After clicking on the button a slow beeping sound will play, from there you can open the bluetooth setting on your phone and select, “JBL Flip 5.” It will then make a beeping noise in a different pattern to signal your phone has been connected to the speaker. After my phone connected to the speaker it stayed auto-connected so the next time I turned on my speaker I didn’t need to reconnect it, I heard the pattern of the beeping noise that signifies it is connected.
Playing Sound & Quality
After my phone was connected, any audio that would typically be played through my phone was now being played through the speaker. The quality of the sound produced is high level and when I play songs with a high bass you can see it on the top of the speaker. Before purchasing this speaker I played music off of my Amazon Echo Show and cheap speakers, the sound that comes from the JBL Flip 5 is incomparable to any of them. The only complaint I would have is with the sound is the volume. If you are looking for a loud speaker inside, the JBL Flip 5 is perfect but if you are looking for an extremely loud speaker to play outside in a public setting you might want to invest in a bigger JBL speaker.
Charging and Battery Life
The JBL Flip 5 comes with a USB-C charging cable which is now typically the standard across all devices as well as Apple’s new iPhone 15. I leave my speaker to charge overnight and once the bar on the side reaches full battery, I am able to leave it unplugged for a week (on average I use my speaker for 1 hour every day). When my speaker does reach low battery it notifies me by flashing red on the side of the speaker and I have about a 15-30 minute period of usage before it dies.
Transporting and Durability
The JBL Flip 5 is a perfect speaker to travel with. It fits in the water bottle holder on a backpack or it is tiny enough to stick in any bag or suitcase. I have used my speaker in various settings. When I brought it with me to the beach it got water on it as well as sand but was able to be cleaned easily and continued to perform with the same high quality after. I have also used my speaker in my house, backyard, and tailgates.
Conclusion
I highly recommend the JBL Flip 5. I have had little to no complaints about it and it has been a durable, high performing speaker. It is an affordable, high quality, and convenient speaker.
