This dishwasher has several issues. First, it's noisy. It starts and stops repeatedly and runs for hours. Second, it never gets glasses clean. They are always spotted no matter where I place them, and I do use a rinse agent on the highest setting. The silverware holder is next to the door and its designated placement does not get the silverware clean. I had to place it in the rack where plates normally go in order to get things clean. Simply put, a dishwasher should wash dishes and get them clean; this machine does not do that. This machine was pre-installed in the home we just purchased; we had no say in the decision to get this brand or model.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought this a month ago and when you push power it doesn't start and you have to continue to press start until it decides to come on.

Soap hangs up and does not at times fully empty. Does not dry dishes as well as it should.

Too many things going wrong

This dishwasher came with the house when we bought it new. First the top impeller came off, then sometimes it gets stuck mid-cycle and I can't change the cycle off of "heavy".

Our dishwasher came with our new house, and we didn't have a choice. What a disappointment. The dishes don't get completely clean, they are rarely dry, and the detergent leaves residue all over the door.

3 hours to wash and dry

The builder of my new home already had installed this unit. The GE Dishwasher takes over 3 hours to: 1) complete the heavy cycle with heated dry; 2) numerous times the Cascade pod does not dissolve totally, this is during any cycle; 3) the water in the chamber does not evaporate completely in the chamber and if the door is not opened is short order, there is a moldy smell; 4) after washing (even the heavy cycle) some dishes and silver need to be washed manually; and 5) the heated dry cycle does not heat adequately to sanitize the dishes.
Within 1 week of moving into the house, I mentioned to the Project Manager that there was a problem with the dishwasher. I stated that it seemed as if the builder installed all of their broken equipment in this house because it was a SPEC house. The Project Manager said that they would never do that. It was decided that I would try the unit for awhile to see if it worked. The problem continued and I mentioned it to the construction finalization expert, during a visit. He said that I needed to contact the manufacturer. No help from the builder
