I've had cheaper dishwashers that clean better

This was the dishwasher that came with a new house we bought. When I lived in my apartment, I was use to putting dirty dishes in the washer and they magically became clean after I ran it-not this one. I basically have to wash all my dishes before I put them in the dishwasher so there's no gunk left on them after I run it. It defeats the purpose of a dishwasher-not only do I have to wash the dishes by had practically but it uses up a bunch of water anyways doing it! I feel like they sacrificed the whole purpose of the dishwasher solely to make it high efficiency. After having to wash every dish twice essentially, it's not that energy and water efficient.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great dishwasher

We recently built a custom home and my kitchen was my big splurge. Love this dishwasher. It's quiet and does a fabulous job. Particularly love the options for different timed cycles depending on light to heavy duty cleaning.

Doesn't always disperse soap. Fails to clean well sometimes. Always wet inside door after cycle finishes.

Quiet and efficient

Works perfectly. Hardly know it's on when it's running. Different levels of cleaning cycles so I can run a half load and not feel like I'm wasting water.

Did the designer ever use a dishwasher?

We purchased this as an "upgrade" from the standard GE model that came with our new home as it was being built because it was rated as being very quiet - and that part is true. However, I would be happy with more noise if I had known the obvious flaws in the design which we deal with every time we use the machine. Here they are:
1. The upper and lower racks are designed to have the silverware racks installed in front of, but outside the rack. What this does is significant, although the racks are removable, that does not provide the user with additional space for more dishes or glassware in either rack - dumb and inefficient
2. The upper and lower rack "divisions" are not adjustable in any way to allow for different sizes of plates/bowls/glassware/pots/pans etc.
3. In an attempt to save water, the machine alternates pumping the water through the lower and upper spray arms. However, that causes the machine to take considerably longer to complete its cycle which results in more energy use.
