doesn't clean

I've lived in a lot of houses over the years and had experience with many different dish washers from top of the line on down. When we built our new house and had our very own, brand new, GE dishwasher installed I had high hopes. It has, however, failed in all aspects. I've tried every different dishwashing detergent available but the pods either stick to the dispenser or the door doesn't even open. Regardless of what I have tried, I can't get our dishes clean.

Poor Quality

GE appears to have no quality control measures anymore. Barely 3 years old and control panel sensor is toast. If you are buying anything GE make sure you get an extended warranty.

Rethink the location of silverware basket and dry like the old days.

One of the selling points for us was the in-the-door silverware basket with "dedicated silverware jets". We thought that it would leave us with so much more space.
Well, if the silverware basket has a decent amount of silverware in it the soap doesn't come out of the soap dispenser. The little that does drips down the door and gets on the silverware (sometimes doesn't rinse off all the way), but what is left stays right where it started out. (I called the store I bought it from and they said we are not the first to complain about this, and this is a brand new, just released dishwasher! Not good to have this big of an issue right off the bat!)
The only way to fix it is to move the silverware basket. And although I can do that, the point of this was to have more space! Moving it defeats that purpose.
The first two weeks not one dish dried in this dishwasher. We couldn't figure it out. We used a rinse agent in addition to our soft water plus we tried all of the settings to see if it would change anything. A repair man came out and told us to turn up our water temperature. So another downside is that we had to turn our water temperature up all the way to get the dishwasher to "dry". And they are still nowhere near dry. They are still fairly wet. Lots of water on top of things, which then drips all over everything else when you go to put the dishes away.
The reason that is a downside is we have small children and turning up the temp means that our small ones can get burned just by turning on the hot water (burning temp is almost immediate now). Our previous dishwasher (Also GE) lasted over ten years, being used multiple times a day, without a problem and we were able to have our water temp where we were comfortable and the dishes dried just fine with that.
The dishwasher is pretty and looks like I would expect any dishwasher to look on the exterior. So nothing good or bad there.
Not loving this. Will be returning. I haven't decided if I'm going to chance another GE, hoping that this just wasn't tested enough instead of a sign of a changed-for-the-worse-brand or try a totally different brand.

Great Dishwasher At A Great Price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just had this dishwasher installed last week and we love it! The only complaint I have is the length of the cycles. Over 3 hours for a wash/sanitize/dry cycle.
Guess we will just run it overnight.

Not what I expected

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all it does not have a stainless steel interior, just the door. Does not have a large capacity rack space. Hard to make things fit. Top utensil rack doesn't clean well. Outside doesn't clean up well, shows marks.

This is a quality product made in the American tradition....USA !!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is extremely likely, we would recommend our dishwasher to friends or family members. Once we viewed the large variety of dishwashers; we chose the GE brand because of its overall appearance and features. The fact that it was made is the USA clinched the deal. The depth of the rack makes it easier to hold glasses in the upright position. The silverware tray; though more difficult to load and unload; hold the silverware in position for better cleaning. Our old unit had basically basket provisions where the silverware was held upright but they were able to fall against one another causing some surfaces not be get cleaned, The bottom rack is slightly lower than our old unit makling it somewhat more difficult for the aging consumer. However; the benefit of the extra spray arm clearance offsets this minor deficiency. The cleanliness of the wash is better than the previous three dishwashers we have had in the past. Our purchase selection was based upon the reivew of the shelf layout, multi-level cycles and overall appearance.
