[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I figured out how to use this guy as a vinyl cutter and I absolutely love it. I use it to create stencils for cerakote and priszm (powder) coatings and these bad boys are fast and efficient. Makes my life so much easier. Thanks brother

Best cutting machine out there.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in Exchange for my honest opinion of the product. When they say ready to use right out of the box. It literally can and was used within a few minutes after opening it. It comes with all the tools and equipment you need to get started. While you can use a computer and be connected to the internet it isn’t necessary to be able to use it. As a matter of fact in the past few weeks of using it, I’ve only connected it to my laptop once. It has so many patterns already installed that can be used for tons of crafting projects. I will say my ultimate favorite thing about the scanNcut is it sure has slashed my fabric cutting time in half if not more. Now I can just scan sewing patterns and have the machine cut the fabric in just a couple minutes. I can cut the same pattern multiple times to make a lot of the same project. Within just the first week of using it I used it for many projects from sewing to bullet journal. I use my ScanNCut to scan my own art, stamp images, magazine pages, and just about anything with an image on it to make unique patterns or just to cut them out to use for scrap-booking or bullet journaling. I’ve used many of the cutting machines on the market and hands down this is the best one. It’s the easiest to set up and use straight-away without the need for a device, programs, or internet.
Pros: -Precise cuts and drawing -The touch screen is easy to navigate and use. -It can scan pretty much everything -It’s really quiet -Preinstalled patterns are wonderful -Can cut most crafting materials up to 3mm -You don’t need a computer or be online to operate it -Storage is built in and holds all the accessories minus mats -Comes with extra CanvasWorkspace collections
Cons: -It requires a big work space -You can only get addition or replacement accessories online (in my area)

love it and works great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I was excited to get this and it was GREAT! It is a quality product. It came with tools to help you "weed" the project off the mat. I read all the instructions that came with it and the tips etc. I went thru the steps they gave you to try a project and it worked great the box turned out well. I then tried some cutouts and drawing even adding 2 of the pictures they give you into one {first pic is the image being drawn and second pic and third pic is a cutout} I got some adhesive vinyl and I made some gaming stickers for my son {fourth pic} The 5th and 6th pictures were gaming characters my son is going to use markers and color in and then cut them out later. It was so much fun. It worked very well and I had no problems with it at all. It comes with a bonus of 3 collections of projects. They are perfect to make. The software is canvas workspace and it is very easy to use. It has over 680 projects for free. We even used our own artwork and that worked well too just had to add the image to software. I cant wait to do more projects this is a wonderful product. I highly recommend this product. I just started and there are so many more things you can do.

It's okay, but I'm disappointed

This machine is called the "scan & cut", and it does that fairly well, as long as the thing you want to cut has no breaks in the outer line. Unfortunately, the instructions are to make a project that has nothing to do with scanning & cutting. I find the software and the device panel not very intuitive. For example, if I want to scan an image and cut around the outside of it, I haven't yet figured out how to enlarge the cutting border so that it doesn't cut all the tiny things in the middle. I suspect to get my value out of it, I'll have to spend a weekend experimenting until I can figure out how to do what I bought it for. The other annoying thing is the cutting mats are outrageously expensive.

Love my scan n cut!!!

Love the scan n cut!! ALMOST bought a cricut but decided to upgrade my old scan n cut for this new version! I love that it’s a stand alone machine. Computer not required. As an illustrator I can just create my own work and cut it out! I don’t need to rework anything on the computer. I love that this one can detect the thickness of the material you’re using. And it can do a half cut!! That’s why I almost bought the cricut. So glad I did more research and learned that my favourite brother brand was capable of doing a kiss cut! Love my scan n cut!! Will definitely stick with Brother!

Epic FAIL

I have purchased 2 scan n cut machines and they have both failed, one within 2 months and the first within a year. It doesn’t load the mat correctly, it goes in crooked. New mat, old mat, it doesn’t matter. When it cuts it shifts the mat, ruining a lot of expensive paper. I’m about to throw the machine out the window. Brother knows about these issues and doesn’t care. I will never buy another brother machine nor will I ever recommend one to anyone.

Very disappointed with the performance

I am so disappointed. I bought this machine for my business and to also make crafts with my son. I opened the box, set up the software and got right to work. First thing I realize is the software I was hoping to use isn’t available in the US. That was the first of many problems. To sell a machine and not disclose this is not acceptable and I feel as though I was scammed. The second issue is cutting a circle. I printed my customers business logo on a sticker sheet and scanned it into canvas workspace. I aligned everything perfectly and put circles around the stickers where I wanted to cut. I then proceeded to cut the stickers and to my surprise they were completely off. I wasted an entire package of sticker paper thinking it was user error and unfortunately it is the machine. After a few uses of trial and errors now my mat won’t load properly. The right side is moving and the left side freezes which dragged my mat in sideways and caused it to fold multiple times. I am beyond frustrated I spent so much money on a machine that had such good reviews. The last issue I just experienced was buying a 12 by 24 mat to try and cut vinyl. I go to load a BRAND NEW brother mat and the machine cannot recognize the mat. How is this possible? Multiple attempts and I gave up. I am sending this machine back tomorrow. Don’t waste your money.
