Quite happy with it!

I did get a dud at first but was able to swap it out easily and the new machine has behaved nicely with no problems. I haven’t had any mat problems but I’m glad to know that if the mat mine came with ends up being one of the bad mats Brother will replace it. I have cut only card stock, and while I think Brother seriously needs to improve their mats, the scanning and cutting of the machine has worked very well. It’s not quite as accurate as another machine I have and love but that one doesn’t scan, so it’s really an apples to oranges comparison. I have the non-“e” SDX125 and really have been quite happy with it for the past two months since I got it. Getting to know the machine really helps—I thought there was a major accuracy problem at first but turns out, It was just the smoothing feature, which unfortunately defaults to on every single time. I really really wish it were easier to tell the machine to ignore lines to keep it from cutting out parts of my stamped images that shouldn’t be cut out, and I wish it were easier to get it to cut out, say, the middle of a donut, but those are software issues I hope they will address soon. I don’t consider those machine issues. All in all, I’m really glad I was able to get the machine and it has been super fun to use, but there are definitely areas it needs improvement, mostly in software ability. I’m banking on getting some great software updates that really help, and then I will spread the word to my crafting buddies! Also, I am EXPECTING Brother to continue supporting the non-e version, SDX125, even though that model is technically discontinued now. If they don’t, they will have a hoard of angry crafters on their hands!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Mat awful, auto cut not accurate

Mats are awful and expensive! Wished I hadn't upgraded from Model 350 due to auto cut is not accurate. First cut was with cardstock and it cut thru mat! The only things I like about this machine is the wifi capability, free software, and the scanning function. Mats loose tackiness after 5 cuts. Mats are too expensive compared to similar cutting machines.

I am really enjoying my new toy. So many new things to do with it. It was my first choice, but glad i went through four other cutting machines before i could finally get this one. Very quiet, no blade settings to do, scan in most anything u can put on paper and sooo much more. And this machine makes third party software usable. Hooray for me. I can use CanvasWorks online or on my Mac also. Files, save to flash drive and plug in to machine to use. Just too much to put here in a review. Loooooove all its features.
I would recommend this to a friend!

No More Fussycutting!

Hobby cardmaker here. I spent time trying to determine which of the many similar machines would best fit my needs; cutting images from cardstock. Fellow cardmakers had raved about this machine. I watched many and made comparisons to similar machines. I gifted it to myself for Christmas.
One of the major complaints people made was that the mats needed to be constantly replaced. When I ordered the machine I purchased it as a bundle with 6 mats and 6 blades. I am very glad that I did this as I think I have avoided a huge amount of frustration regarding the mats.
As I mentioned, I watched many videos that are available, I especially like The Papered Chef, and was able to follow the setup and begin putting my machine to use quickly. Without the help of videos my experience would have been different and frustration as the instructions provided were not clear to me. Luckily my machine has worked as expected and I have been very pleased with the fact that I can easily cut stamped images from cardstock and DSP; this has upped my card making enjoyment as not all stamp sets have coordinating dies.
There is a huge learning curve to use the machine but available videos make it easier. I would purchase it again and recommend to others

Waste Of Money!

The machine cut ok for a few months, I was only cutting paper and vinyl... then all the problems started. First the machine wouldn't cut evenly around an outlined design, leaving way to much space in some parts and none in others. I tried recalibrating the machine too many times to count, cleaned the rollers, the mat and the spinners, went through troubleshooting and online videos and articles, nothing has fixed it. The blade started shredding my paper designs, I cleaned the blade, nothing, so I replaced the blade, and the machine was still ruining most of my designs. Then, the mat started to jamb, a clean new mat and the machine would just warp it because one side of the feeder would spin but not the other! Again cleaned everything including the back of the mat, the rollers and the black rubber grips and nothing works! So now the spinners only spin when they feel like it, the mat can't be loaded when they don't work, even if they spin it just crumples the mat and gets stuck. I don't even believe the good reviews, my Scan n Cut is defective and customer support is useless, their solutions are the same as the ones you find on line and ultimately to bring it to a repair shop in your area. My machine is less than a year old and I haven't cut anything out of the ordinary, the machine is clean and I read every article and watched videos before an while using, so as to not make mistakes. I would never recommend a Brother product, just a huge waste of money!

Scan and Cut

I purchased this machine to help reduce my "fussy" cutting on craft projects due to arthritis and time. I have only had the machine a brief time so I have not had time to experience all the great things this machine can do. It does a wonderful job of scanning items and then cutting them out. The few projects I made turned out wonderfully and I am looking forward to learning to do more things with the machine. I love the fact that it connects with my other electronics via blue tooth.

Used to cut vinyl an scan art work. The Auto Blade cuts too deep, consequently cuts mat, which are priced too high for quality. Scanner seems to function well. Downloadable software drastically needs revamping, way too hard to locate tools to create/adjust designs. Machine should be designed to interrupt n cut SVG's files.

We would like to help. You are able to import SVG files to the Brother ScanNCut SDX125EGY and adjust pressure settings if the blade is cutting too deep in some cases. Please see the links below for further assistance:
Answer Link: Importable File Formats (the above link applies to all but PES for the SDX125EGY)

super exited

I was super exited to get the machine for the built in scanner to use for cutting small doll patterns. I am still trying to learn how to scan the pattern parts so they cut cleanly. My only disappointment is that the accessories are not available for sale even on the internet. I need the thin fabric blade and the fabric cutting mat
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
