It's okay, but I'm disappointed

This machine is called the "scan & cut", and it does that fairly well, as long as the thing you want to cut has no breaks in the outer line. Unfortunately, the instructions are to make a project that has nothing to do with scanning & cutting. I find the software and the device panel not very intuitive. For example, if I want to scan an image and cut around the outside of it, I haven't yet figured out how to enlarge the cutting border so that it doesn't cut all the tiny things in the middle. I suspect to get my value out of it, I'll have to spend a weekend experimenting until I can figure out how to do what I bought it for. The other annoying thing is the cutting mats are outrageously expensive.

Epic FAIL

I have purchased 2 scan n cut machines and they have both failed, one within 2 months and the first within a year. It doesn’t load the mat correctly, it goes in crooked. New mat, old mat, it doesn’t matter. When it cuts it shifts the mat, ruining a lot of expensive paper. I’m about to throw the machine out the window. Brother knows about these issues and doesn’t care. I will never buy another brother machine nor will I ever recommend one to anyone.

Easy to use

Brother makes easy to use machines. Only thing its hard to find accessories . I already need a new mat for my sdx125 and they are not available yet. And it cuts vinyl beautifully but card stock im having a problem with.

I have had my Scan and Cut dx about 2 weeks and already having trouble with loading the mat, same problem many many are having. Must order a new mat, replacements are impossible to find. SHAME on you Brother for not addressing this problem that an overwhelming number of your loyal customers are facing without your support. Unfortunately I will have to return this machine....

No better than my CM350

So, I upgraded. The mats I bought for my CM350 won’t work with this, which is upsetting since they are extremely expensive. The mat that came with it won’t feed properly - my CM350 never had this issue. I use both, until my mat supply runs out for my CM350. I hope by then the DX has cheaper mats. I think the machine should come with more than one mat, or at least all three mats.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this for free in exchange for my honest opinion. I really like this machine. It’s very easy to use, even for someone who has no experience at all. The screen is large enough to see well and the application I use on my laptop works well too. It’s easy to transfer from my laptop to the machine wirelessly. I have only worked with card stock so far, but I’ve done several projects. I’m playing around with it to get comfortable before buying more materials. I can see this being really useful for holidays, education, and just fun crafts. I can’t wait to make more projects!!
