The RT-AX89X Wireless specs looks impressive at first glance, but real world usage shows that the wireless performance and reliability is abysmal. Due to the unmatched send and receive figures, you're better off with almost any off the shelf cheap wireless or ISP stock router.

Love that it has SFP+ so I can run fiber to it. It’s the only consumer level wifi router that does to my knowledge and it’s part of an amazing family of products. Wish it had wifi 6E… hopefully that’ll come soon.

Good router, customizable, some bugs in firmware for using aggregate connection, but port is 10 GBS so aggregate not required. Just can’t plug-in wifi backup to main system.

Absolutely no one knows how to set this up after more than about 4 phone calls hours on the phone and a dozen emails wasting another many hours all to no avail.I had to sent it back and buy a Netgear router! Very very disappointing support!

Best router I have own so far. I was getting poor Comcast download speeds. Replaced my netgear XR 1000 router and bought a Motorola MB8611 docs is 3.1 and getting gig internet speeds now versus only getting 600mb/s tops. The gig10 and gig2.5 speeds are fantastic. I bought a rj45 adapter so I can use the 10gig port so I can plug it directly to my motherboard. ASUS router UI is fantastic compared to the netgear’s DumasOS. I am totally satisfied and a big fan of ASUS routers.

It's fast, but it has some significant issues. Most setting changes trigger a reboot of the router, even simple changes that only require the affected service to reload it's config such as simple DNS changes will cause the router to reboot. If you SSH to the router you can make the changes without rebooting, seems strange that the web interface has these issues when other router models don't.
Software updates are infrequent, this seems to be due in part to this router having a different type of CPU from the other models. This is the same reason you won't find any third party firmware for it like Merlin or DD-WRT.
