Its a little faster than my 1GB router. Set up was easy. No password required though. And I can’t figure out how to use a password, so I guess my neighbors can use it until that gets resolved. The http website ASUS uses doesn’t work on my computer in any setting or on any browser. Why can’t they use a normal website?! So, I’ll have to call in. Software app doesn’t seem to have a password setting either. Weird. And it looks a little creepy…like one of those face-sucking babies on Aliens.

After 2 other commonly used units were returned, I purchased the ASUS RT-AX89X and it was the easiest to set up and had the additional ports available eliminating the need for an additional router switch.

5Ghz radio failed just after the first month. Tried to work with support, but they appeared to not get my responses to their suggested fixes so they closed the ticket. Will open a new ticket, but the hardware and support experience has been extremely poor.

This is a lot of router! I don’t recommend changing any of the settings that you don’t understand intimately, otherwise you will likely have to do a factory reset to get your network working again! I debated giving 4 stars due to issues like being required to manually switching the router to USB 2.0 mode to improve connectivity with your 2.4g wireless networked devices - ugh! Ultimately, this is a router of the future (except it needs more 10GbaseT ports; also needs the latest USB capability) and is less capable in the backward compatibility arena.

All in all, this is a great router. Unfortunately technology is never perfect. Cant use WPA3 because its not yet heavily used. Had some issues with connecting to some of my laptops but ASUS knew of this issue beforehand and slipped in a note of what i should do and it worked. I wonder now though if I jumped the gun a little bit. The only device that was compatible with WiFi6 was my Iphone. I am not quite sure that the multiple antennae give me any better than the one or two I have previously used on other routers. Just haven't noticed any huge difference. Love the options of adding a VPN to the router. Asus is just ahead of the game on this one and will need to upgrade some laptops in the house but that is how technology is these days.
