Needed a new laptop to replace an aging HP laptop that was unable to upgrade to Windows 11. Very sleek and fast. Only negative is the amount of bloatware included.
I am sure this laptop would perform as expected; however, I did not like the silver keys; they get lost in the silver body. It also did not have a backlit keyboard which is quite surprising on one of your more upscale computers. Consequently, I returned it unused and am not happy about the restocking fee. I know this might seem like a trivial issue, but the keyboard is what I see every time I use it, and regardless how powerful it is, I end up hating it. The black keyboard with a silver body works better for me. I have had HP computers for the last 15 years and have been happy with them up to now.
This computer is very fast, very light and very, very quiet. Having converted from an 8-year-old laptop, the differences are amazing. The SSD makes startups almost instantaneous and without the constant "whirring" from a cooling fan. Runs all my desktop apps without issue.
The display is crisp and vivid. At 15.7" it's big enough to work multiple screens, yet not so large as to become strenuous. HP provides "enhanced" lighting which makes transitions from full-dark screens to full-light screens less jarring.
Keyboard is comfortable and backlit when needed. The numeric keypad was a must for me. I'm not a fan of touch screen or touch pads, but adding a bluetooth mouse solves that issue.
Windows 11 is easy to use. At startup, it will automatically transfer most of your old computer's settings and documents to the new computer. (Be sure your old computer is signed into your Microsoft account and your data has been backed up to OneDrive.) Not bad.
I've been a Google Chrome user for many years, but I must admit, the Microsoft Edge browser is very good. Many improvements over the past few years.
This is now my fourth HP computer and by far my favorite. Excellent machine.
