Poor quanlity

This appliance already installed in our new construction townhome. It is loud and seems to take forever to run a cycle. Now it will not turn on without several tries of opening the door and shutting to restart. Plan to replace this. We blame the builder for putting in, what we think is the cheapest they could find. Will not purchase a GE product.

We'd like to assist with the operation of your dishwasher racks and the leaking. Hard water and detergent residue can cause dishwasher racks to stick or not pull in and out properly. Using a rinse agent can help minimize the build-up of detergent and hard water minerals on your dishes and the interior of the unit. Also, using high quality detergents such as Cascade Platinum, ActionPacs, or Finish Quantum Automatic Dishwashing Detergent can help as well. We recommend referring to the following article for further guidance: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=38988
Your dishwasher’s door gasket lines the inside perimeter of your dishwasher door, creating a watertight seal. A leak coming from underneath or around the dishwasher door may be due to a damaged or worn-out gasket that’s not sealing properly. You mentioned that it isn't installed properly. Inspect the gasket: if you notice any tears, cuts, or wear, it likely needs to be replaced. For more information on leaking, see here: https://repair.geappliances.com/resources/faq/article/why-is-my-dishwasher-leaking
If the suggestions provided don't seem to help, schedule a service appointment with a Bodewell technician by calling 833-426-3393 or schedule online at https://www.bodewell.com/schedule-repair-service

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Takes forever, and doesn't even clean anything. It left an awful residue and I ended up needing to hand wash everything all over. Also leaves everything soaking wet despite having a "dry cycle." Spend a little more money and get something that works.

We would like to provide you with some assistance with your dishwasher drying and the grit/residue you're experiencing. You will need to ensure that the water entering the dishwasher is between 120 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit for best wash and dry performance. Run the faucet closest to the dishwasher prior to starting the dishwasher to purge cold water from the hot water line. We also recommend using a rinse aid to help with the drying of dishware, as rinse aids prevent spots on glasses and promote drying by causing water to sheet off of dishware and glassware.
We have provided some additional troubleshooting tips for poor drying in your dishwasher here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17451
We have also provided some tips to help with the residue here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=38935
If the tips provided above do not help, service is advised. You can schedule an appointment with a Bodewell technician by calling 833-4BODEWELL (833-426-3393) or schedule online at https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm

We want to help you with your dishwasher's not pausing sound level and drying performance. To pause your unit, we recommend slowly opening the door. Opening the door will cause the wash cycle to pause (the dishwasher will beep every minute to remind you to close the door) To restart or resume the cycle, press Start and close the door within 4 seconds.
To help you with the sound level and drying performance of your unit, we recommend making sure you are loading your items properly. To do so, you can follow the instructions in page 11 to 15 of the owner's manual here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--EszXjA26--/2ee1c206fc195cd1717cedf8b41e2ab95579670c.pdf
You can find additional tips in page 19 and 20 of the owner's manual as well.
If your issues persist after troubleshooting, we recommend scheduling service with one of our Bodewell technicians by calling 1-833-426-3393 or visiting us online at: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm
We are going to share your comments regarding the bottom rack wheels with our product team for review.

Response from geappliances.comBy Don, GE_Appliances, October 30, 2025
We'd like to assist with your new dishwasher's cleaning performance. It's important that you use high quality detergents such as Cascade® Platinum™ ActionPacs™ or Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergent to ensure the best detergent performance. Additionally, you'll want to make sure your dishes are being loaded properly to ensure the large dishware does not block the detergent dispenser or the wash arms. We recommend you review the "Loading" section on pages 11-15 here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--EszXjA26--/2ee1c206fc195cd1717cedf8b41e2ab95579670c.pdf - If this doesn't prove helpful, you can find additional tips in the "Dishes and flatware not clean" section on pg. 19 of the Owner's Manual.
