Flimsy

This dishwasher was installed in our new Lennar home. We also had it in the rental we were in prior to buying our own home in the same development. It cleans okay. That’s all I can say that’s good. It’s flimsy, one of the prongs is already loose and flopping. It’s not well put together. My grown son called it “a toy”. The inside gets a white film on it from the hard water. Have to rinse it out with white vinegar. It came with the house. I would never buy this unit if I had a choice.

We'd like to offer tips for removing the white residue from the interior and offer assistance with the prong.
The white film or residue you are noticing can be caused by phosphate-free dishwasher detergent. Detergents without phosphates can potentially leave a white film on glassware and other items, even the tub itself. This white film is most often observed in hard water areas. We recommend checking out our full removal guide here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16245.
Our products are designed with durability in mind, and we use high-quality materials to manufacture our appliances. If you are experiencing any issues with a part of the dishwasher, we recommend scheduling an appointment with one our Bodewell technicians. To make an appointment with one of our Bodewell technicians, please call 1-833-4BODEWELL or visit this site: https://www.bodewell.com/schedule-repair-service.

Rusted Racks

I’m disappointed in the condition of my dishwasher racks being rusted and leaving stains on my cups. This machine is not that old and should not be rusting like this already.

Extremely disappointed – dishwasher racks rusting
on May 10, 2026

Extremely disappointed – dishwasher racks rusting after just a few months. We moved into this home in November 2024 and purchased a GE Energy Star dishwasher (front controls, model GDF510PSRSS). Within a short time, the racks started rusting severely. Photos show obvious rust on multiple tines and bars, and the racks already feel fragile and prone to breaking. This is unacceptable for a new appliance and has already caused me to question the overall quality and durability. I expected better corrosion resistance from GE, especially for a new unit. Highly dissatisfied with performance and longevity.
Would strongly discourage others from expecting long-term rack durability from this model. If you own one, inspect the racks early and reach out to support if you notice corrosion—your experience may vary, but mine has been disappointing from the start.

I don’t even know if it’s clean. It’s all plastic inside and out. Came with the house. It’s smelly makes the dishes smell like chemicals. I’ve ran it a few times, thoroughly cleaned it. Idk what’s up with it it’s the plastic on the inside I believe.

Hello- Thanks so much for reaching out. We are happy to help! Odors associated with new appliances are normal. The processes used during manufacturing often may leave a "newness" odor that may not dissipate until after several washing cycles. This condition is completely normal. You can alleviate this condition by running the dishwasher through several cycles using detergent. If you continue to have issues, please reach out to GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737. Thank you! Joyce@GEA
