Excellent washing ability and easy to use

Overall great machine; poor door hinge design

I purchased this machine to replace a thirty-five year old top-loading washer. That machine had served me well through the years, but had a steel tub, which eventually rusted through. My research into a replacement indicated that Electrolux is the most reliable front-loading washer. Many reviews of other leading brands complained about what appeared to be UBD issues. Even so, all of the reviews for Electrolux were glowing. My experience has been no different. Having a household with three active dogs, this machine has cleaned everything I have thrown at it — including sofa cushions and dog bed covers. Additional benefits are that this appliance uses only modest amounts of water and energy to do its job.
I do have one complaint, though. The door hinge design leave much to be desired. It is not so much the design as the choice of mounting fasteners. Due to the layout of the utility closet in which the washer is installed, I needed to swap orientation of the door. The procedure for removing and reinstalling is fairly straightforward. However, the latch mechanism employs course threaded sheet metal screws, while the hinge assembly makes use of self-tapping, fine threaded machine screws. Add to that the fact that the attachment points do not appear to be pre-tapped and the experience was fraught with no small degree of frustration. This is the only reason I am not giving this machine a five-star rating. The use of mixed fasteners is unnecessary.
If one does not need to swap door orientation, then this is a fabulous, well-built machine capable of cleaning a wide variety of clothing and furnishings.

Very pleased with washer

We've only had the washer for less than a month, but so far we're very pleased with its performance, the wash options, its capacity and its quietness. All of us are happy that our son likes using the PODS option; no more detergent spills.
