Had to replace another maker's fridge that wasn't even 8 years old yet. Was planning to go with them again, but they just didn't have the features I wanted. Apparently adjustable shelves aren't important to their market anymore. Consumer Reports ranked this GE Profile as their top side-by-side model. It's quiet and has a fair amount of space, but not quite as much as our old one. Much more fits on the door though. 2 things I'm not loving. 1) Shows fingerprints everywhere so it's hard to keep clean looking - my last fridge had a satin finish that resisted fingerprints. 2) The water dispenser is somewhat awkward to fill water bottles so we're having more spills. Maybe we'll get better at it. Otherwise we're very happy.

Nice lighting inside! Makes it easy to find anything I need. Not a fan of the grey on grey control panel. Makes it too hard to read.

Read the reviews and the bad ones posted by these people, they must have something wrong with them or to much time on their hands. I love my new fridge !! Plenty of room and lighting. Plus it is so quite . Even though I wanted a black one I still love it !!

Modern up-to-date features

We have had this refrigerator for a couple of months now, having purchased a new trio: GE Refrigerator, GE Microwave, and GE Dual Oven Range, all matching stainless still. The refrigerator has lots of space in both freezer and main unit and is well lighted with multiple LEG lights instead of one old incandescent lamp.

Bought this unit when my 7 year old GE side by side died. Looks good with great interior lighting. Only problem is that you can't open the doors fully with it in an enclosure on the sides. Had to pull it out about 4" to be able to open the doors 90 deg.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
