I like everything about it so far except the noise

I've had this refrigerator for a couple months now, and it replaced a very similar model when I changed all of my appliances from black to SS. So far, mechanically, so good. I like the features, flexibility of shelf placement, ice maker function and the way it looks overall. The interior lights are very nice. What I can't get over are the loud clicking and clacking sounds it still makes. It's very loud! I was hoping it would stop or quiet down or decrease in frequency with time, but that hasn't happened yet. Luckily, my bedroom is far enough away from the kitchen that it doesn't wake me. If you're thinking about buying this fridge and your kitchen is close to a bedroom, keep that problem in mind.

This was our second GE Profile fridge. The first one (10 years old) was great and is still great and working good as new... but decided to switch to stainless to enhance a future home sale. Let me begin by saying whoever invented stainless steel for appliance exteriors was CRAZY!!! I don't care what anyone says...I am a perfectionist and this stuff is IMPOSSIBLE to maintain and keep clean and spotless and even worse to get prints and smudges off. We have no kids, no pets and in our 60's...I feel so sorry for young parents who own stainless... I will most likely never purchase stainless again in a new home. I hope our home buyers enjoy it!!!
As far as the fridge itself, we love the led lights and it works as well as our old profile no complaints...the ice dispense is better than the old one and faster....ONLY COMPLAINT.....no stops on the rollers so the darn thing kept pulling out of the fridge cubbie when we would open the doors. We finally had to put stops down under the front roller wheels on the floor. Used sticky pads that stick to our tile. Just need to remember to remove them anytime we need to roll it out for any reason. Once we stabilized it...it is fine. But that really would be a simple fix for GE and I had read other reviews mention that so not sure why GE doesn't address that..it really was annoying..
Read other complaints about being loud but we don't believe that to be case for us...Our only complaint after stabilizing.....is keeping stainless clean!!! We also got the GE stainless stove but have not replaced dishwasher yet....and believe me...we will not be getting stainless.

Love this fridge, but beware of magnets!!!

I love this fridge, I like the lines, all the lights where they are needed inside, the storage the bins, the space on the inside of the door (love the depth of these shelves), even the delivery was flawless. It meets every one of my needs and I am happy for the most part with this product.
After about a week, I noticed very fine scratches in the finish. It took me a couple of days to figure out that the magnets I had on the front of the appliance were moving just slightly when opening or closing the doors and causing these fine scratches to the beautiful gloss finish. I was SO sad... I was warned by the installer not to use paper towels to clean the front and never used a single one, only microfiber cloths have touched this lovely machine. But nothing was mentioned about magnets. I would love feedback if GE knows how to remove these scratches. My fault for using the magnets but it's the only reason the quality has been marked down a notch. I am just glad I decided not to clutter the whole front like I did my old appliance - truly the entire front panels would have been destroyed, talk about sad. It just didn't occur to me that magnets, like paper towels, would scratch this surface, call me silly and in hindsight I feel silly but I didn't think about it.
I would recommend a warning, similar to advice on not using paper towels, about using magnets on the non-textured high gloss front of this unit. It's such a beautiful finish and I love the gloss, but be aware that if you have a toddler that loves the alphabet letters, or even grown adult children that love the magnet words, don't do it - don't use magnets on this fridge!!! Most of America uses refrigerator magnets, appointment reminders, our favorite pizza restaurant, the emergency vet number, poison control...
GE, I love you as a company and I love your products, could you please work on a glossy finish that doesn't get scratched with magnets?!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very Pleased with Fridge

We've had this a few months now and it is working very well. Lots of ice and no noise nor other issues. Unit replaced a counter depth fridge so was hoping for more space. We get that in the refrigerator side but little to no added storage on the freezer. This thing just plain works well for us. I wouldn't call it the prettiest unit or anything but we are pleased with features and more importantly, operation.
I would recommend this to a friend!
