The reason I bought this refrigerator is because it fit into my kitchen space and other higher rated models on the product rating source I used were not available or wouldn't fit. At the time of this review, I've had it for less than two months, so it's too early to tell whether the issues that previously occurred with my GE refrigerator will recur. This is basically the same refrigerator I had before. I had the GE PSS26sgpass. I had issues with the temperature control of the refrigerator. It would freeze my food in the winter, and I couldn't adjust the temperature control early on in owning the refrigerator. I am concerned that this will be a similar issue for this refrigerator. The ice maker is awkward. There is a flap swinging door that swings 360 degrees, which scrapes my hand, because it is smooth on the bottom but flat and sharper plastic on the top. The door swings completely around removes skin when I try to get a large amount of ice out by hand. The ice is frozen in a big clump, now, even though the temperature control is at zero degrees. I would like the cubes to stay as individual cubes. I do not have a freezer thermometer to check its accuracy. The temperature controls are on the outside of the freezer door and are easy to adjust. The previous GE refrigerator had them on the top of the inner door frame of the refrigerator and were impossible to adjust. I use the water dispenser mainly to fill a pitcher with water, and it doesn't accommodate wider containers very well. A single glass is easiest to fill. The water filters are really expensive, and I probably won't replace it when the time comes, because I do not use the filtered water dispenser much, anyway. I like that they replaced the first two freezer shelves with glass. Before, they were the metal basket weave that is on the bottom 3 sliding baskets. I like that they replaced the metal-grated side freezer doors with plastic. In the refrigerator portion, there is the same shelf that slides in half so that taller items can be put on the shelf below it. It is that same feature that I had on my previous refrigerator. I did not like it because the sliding shelf wouldn't stay extended and I didn't like to place items on that part of the shelf, because I was afraid of hitting the shelf and having the items on it fall off, which did happen. That was an unused shelf space, and a waste. So, when my old refrigerator was taken away, I took shelves from that one and replaced that sliding shelf with a regular one. I should have taken an extra side plastic refrigerator shelf, because another one would have been useful. The current one has 5 (one of which is the butter shelf with a swinging flap), but the items I keep on each shelf are short, so another shelf would have freed up refrigerator shelf space. The product rating source I used gave it only "good" ratings for noise. Sometimes, it does make noises, but they are not excessive. The previous GE refrigerator I had would frequently make knocking noises, as if something was in there. I got used to it over the years, but am concerned that this may become an issue, too. The front of this door is magnetic, so I can put magnets on it, whereas the one I had previously would not work for magnets, except on the side of the refrigerator. The freezer door and handle are slightly higher than the refrigerator one, which makes it look a little awkward. I didn't notice it until the installers left, and I don't know if they could have adjusted anything to even them out, anyway. The handles are not as sleek looking as the previous GE refrigerator I had, but a little more squared off. So far, this has been a good refrigerator.

I like the overall lighting on this model. Easy Ice maker access and removal. Old model I had on inside of door and would get stuck when trying to remove.
I'm not sure yet on the filter inside the refrigerator. Will see when I replace the first time.

Large Refrigerator

The crushed ice stopped worked two weeks after it was installed. It does not do a great job of crushing the ice when it was working. No crushed ice for Christmas. The drawers inside the refrigerator tend to stick unlike our older Profile model that was twenty years old.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have owned many GE appliances. This one is a disappointment. Noisy ice maker; hard to close freezer door; shelves on freezer door all but useless as they are so small nothing fits and gets stuck; vegetable and meat bins too large, taking up too much space. Not enough open type shelves.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
