Wi-Fi connection is nice, but...

I've used Weber Connect about 25 times for smoking after several years of using the iGrill 2. The Wi-Fi connection is superior to the Bluetooth of the iGrill series, but the device doesn't offer any other features that the iGrill 2 doesn't have and the Weber Connect app that partners with the device has less features than the iGrill app. On top of all that, my device is now showing ghost temperatures for probes that aren't connected and the device cannot be reset. The price point is quite high for what it does.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

APP IS UNSTABLE

I had Weber Connect about 6 months now and it worked great the first few times. I was pleased with the product. Then I would have to keep starting the app over again each time I checked my phone. I pair it again, reset the app and a few other trouble shooting tips suggested by the app. Then a message kept appearing telling me to update the app. So, I tried to no avail. It would reach about 22% before it just shut down all the while flashing back and forth to a screen saying something went wrong and finally said the update had failed. I went through this several times but it never updated. Not what I expected from weber at all. I purchased one of the I-models before this one and it didn't work but one time before I returned it for Connect Hub. The Hub itself seems to work fine besides the middle number on the read-out fading, but the app is nothing more than a frustration that I can do without! If the app would act right, I would definitely recommend it had it worked but not at this point. I would however be willing to try a new unit if Weber will replace it. And for the record, I've used Weber products for years and love there products but this one needs some more work.

Like it but I don’t love it

I just bought this and I like it a lot but I don’t love it. Ive owned Many Weber products and have lived all of them. I’ve recently gotten into smoking on a regular and have been looking for something that would assist me in my over night cooks. This does ok but I really would love this thing if it had a temperature graph. That would be great to look back on to test different fuel/set up techniques and see what’s happening. I hope to see a software update soon, I’ll recommend it when this is a thing.

Great idea to grill at right temperature

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recieved this to try for my honest opinion. I am always worrying if I cook the meat right and this will come in handy. The Weber Connect Smart Grilling Hub can be used with either Anroid or I phone as this connects to your phone. When setting up the phone it did take me a little bit as you need to have the thermometer close to phone . I keep it in the box after use and cleaned so I do not loose the pieces and it stays clean . Easy to read instructions. I used it to make steak over the weekend and really like that I do not have to worry about over or under cooking of the meat that I am cooking. Makes it easier to grill . It is also Bluetooth.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So my grilling needed a little pick-up so I got this Weber Smart Connect Grilling Hub. This thing is Awesome. The WiFi capabilities makes this little item just what you need for those long smoking adventures. Plug in the probes to your favorite food item, pick a recipe, set your parameters such as max temp warning, low temp warning, etc and away you go. Leave to run errands, go to work or go to bed. This thing will monitor your temps and cook times and let you know when it’s ready no matter where you are. You can even spot check your temps any time you want from anywhere. If you need a little edge when smoking your favorite food, you need to pick one of these up. You won’t be sorry!!

Convenient control

I love getting direct feedback on the temperature of my grill and of the meat being grilled. The app was fairly easy to connect to the wifi. The wires are wrapped around a convenient plastic square. Pay attention to how it is wrapped if you want to keep it at a tight uniform package, otherwise it will unspool.
I used the temperature monitor to get the read on the ambient temperature of the grill because the ribs recipe called for a steady 200 degrees. This was the first time that I was able to really control the temperature by reducing the flow of propane and turning off burners and keep it at an even temperature for the three hours of grilling.

Disappointing

I love all my Weber products and have had an igrill for many years that is awesome except I wanted wifi to be able to get alerts for overnight smoking as the Bluetooth will not reach my bedroom. Not sure what made Weber decide not to just take the igrill and add wifi as it would have been perfect. The igrill has a functional alert feature and this only alerts if the app is open on the screen. Who needs an alert when you are looking at the app????

Poorly designed. Minimal advantages

Don’t waste your money. Weber isn’t a tech company and it shows. The app has numerous UX issues. I feel like it was made by an engineering intern who tricked some vp into letting him do design work.
There are so many inconveniences that I just use a standard meat thermometer
