Good, But Still Not Like iGrill3

I have had this since just before Thanksgiving. I bought it in spite of the horrible reviews because I was so happy with the iGrill3. I am glad I did.
I have used it for a whole turkey, a whole butterflied chicken and a tri-tip roast. I do a lot of grilling. All three were cooked properly, so the unit works well and the reported temperatures seem to be correct.
My barbecue is a long way from the house, so WiFi is a necessity. My prior yard was quite small and the Bluetooth connectivity of the iGrill3 was sufficient. This is a huge plus for for the Grilling Hub. Overall, this is a good unit and the hardware seems to be a solid foundation.
However, I found the iGrill3 supporting software to be far better. As a system, the Grilling Hub does not measure up to that high standard.
First, setup. I am not sure what the connectivity requirements for the Hub are, but I had quite a few problems with this and the documentation is not clear. It all seemed to work quite well once I fixed my WiFi range. This is obviously not the Hub's fault, but better documentation could have saved me some setup time.
Once my WiFi was working, connecting the Hub was easy. This is true even though I do not broadcast my network ID.
The software seemed to require a couple of updates out of the box. While most units I buy do require a software update on startup, this unit seemed to need a few updates. I do not remember how many. This was not a major issue, but it should be simplified.
Once it was all set up, I have no problem seeing the temperature of the grill and the meat probes on my phone. They are updated frequently and seem to be accurate.
Many folks have previously complained about the lack of recipes. I have not used the built-in recipes, yet, so I do not know if that is improved or not.
I really miss the iGrill3 historical temperature graph. I could pretty reliably predict completion times with the graph and could also know if I had periods of time where the grill was too hot or not hot enough. Apparently the use of recipes helps with this, but the Hub should be usable for "manual cooking." I really do not want to spend a lot of time prepping the unit to do a simple meal.
The iGrill3 had a temperature range for the probes, so I could set a good range (say 315-335) and get audible and visual alerts when it was out of range. This way I could keep food preparation and conversations going without always looking at my phone.
The iGrill3 app also loaded an app on my my watch (I am using Apple phone and Apple watch). I could see the temperatures on my wrist without carrying a phone around. This is extremely convenient. The watch app also gives temperature alerts, again, without constantly looking at my phone. This unit only seems to have a single temperature setting per probe and it alerts as the temperature is approached. Good for the meat probes, but not sufficient for the grill temperature probe.
The documentation with this device is lacking. I got the "full" manual from the web and it did not provide much more information. It could be that some of the issues I mention above are due to the lack of documentation.
Overall, this is a very good unit and would be a great unit with some software improvements. I am very happy with this purchase.

OK unit, poor battery life, probe failed

Been an iGrill user for years, decided it was time for an upgrade and moved to the Grilling hub. Love the WiFi connection and range. Disappointed in the battery storage. Plugged it in, full charged it, unplugged from the power, and placed it in a cabinet for the next grilling. About 2 weeks later took it out, plugged in the probes, nothing! Plugged it back in charged it up, put it away again. About a week later, took it out to use, again no battery, I guess I will need to leave it plugged in all the time. One of the probes stopped recording, no obvious breaks in the wires or damage. Time to buy a replacement,

Terrible app. No functionality

I have owned the igrill and I will be going back to it. A complete loss of functionality vs the igrill app. I wonder if the person who designed the app has ever used a charcoal grill.
The good. Rechargeable battery. Good range on the Bluetooth. Option for WiFi (did not function or connect), looks nice. They added a timer function (all serious grillers know you go by temp not time)
The bad. I had hoped there would be backwards compatibility with the igrill and the connect devices and their apps. Unit required multiple software updates right out of the box. Would not connect to WiFi.
The ugly. It comes with an ambient temperature probe but there is not a program for grill temp where you can set a temp range with high and low notifications. For a charcoal grills this is the main function of grill thermometer - to monitor the fire Without this function the Weber Connect is little more than an oven probe.
The grill programs do not allow for you to adjust to a specific doneness. If you select prime rib you are stuck with 5 options for target temp.
Grill programs cannot be saved. And there is not a graph view like the igrill had.
Overall This is not a product for a grill and is a major disappointment coming from a major player in the grill industry. Get the igrill2 or any other product for a better grilling experience.

Great Tool (follow up post) to Msbtoo

Wrote a while ago and got a replacement hub and probes (due to battery life and faulty probe). The replacements are great. Keeping the battery life well, two weeks charged and unplugged, still running 95% plus battery. Probes, working great, within 1 degree of each other.
A suggestion on the menu. The “Select Program” is good, but could benefit from another selection. “Cook Program” shows great information on the meat, especially the cook temperature needed. The “Recipes” are useful as well, lots of details. The “Temperature Alert” is what I want, but I have to “know” what temperature per meat, per cut. What I need is a Temperature Alert that shows me the temperature options per meat and allows me to select, I do not remember what temperature that I need. This was an option on the old iGrills, which I had before, I could pick meat, temp style (rare, medium, well as appropriate) and go. The temperature on steps on “Cook Program” without the (annoying) clicking through steps, steps.

Disappointed App only supports 1 Connect Device

You can’t have 2 devices available on the app. You have to remove one and then pair the other or use two iPhones or an iPhone and an iPad.

The app is poor, even after update

The app is estetically good, but it misses very important function like interval alarms on cooking temperature. In many recipes it is not possible to change target temp and where it is possible you can choose only few predetermined targets. Why iGrill app is much better?

Great product, needs some app work

I picked up one of these in a big box store yesterday for smoking a couple of very large briskets. The hub was easy to set up and configure. If you use the predefined programing the app assumes product weight for you. The app brisket weight was 14-16 pound. Mine were 18 and 21 pounds. That drastically changes the cooking time. There is no way to change the weight of what you are cooking.
There are no physical buttons for turning the unit on and no indication of where the hidden button is located. I think the ambient temperature probe should be probe one.
While rechargeable batteries are convenient, when doing a long smoke the battery will not last. My briskets has to cook for 16+ hours. I had to connect a charger. There is no charging adapter, only a USB cable.

Got this as a Christmas gift for my husband and he’s been disappointed. The probes come disconnected from the hub if there is any movement whatsoever and the cooking instructions seem to work independently of the temperature monitoring so they aren’t accurate
