The Galaxy S21 doesn't seem like much of an upgrade from my S8. The only difference I can see is a better camera. I expected it to be faster when powering on, using apps, etc. but it seems about the same. Taking away the blue LED light that tells me I have a text, and taking away the headphone jack were both downgrades to me.
The S21 has little advantages over the S9 wich is a little older. Worst resolution, no audio jack, no accessories included and is bigger.

No SD-card, otherwise great. Backward compatible.

Be aware, no SD Card slot. The size stated is what you get without expansion. I moved up from an S8 and didn't pay attention. Thankfully, I could fit what I needed to transfer after archiving a lot of old photos to my PC or Cloud services. The phone itself is great so far. It's not too big. It fits in the hand as well as still fitting into my car mount, my bike mount, and my pockets. I don't care about the lack of headphone jack because I use bluetooth instead. The volume buttons that used to be on the left side are now on the right side. I'm getting used to that. So in some ways, it's a big change going from older model (S8) to such a newer model (S21). Just pay attention to what you want and expect and whether you're getting that from this model.
First, it should be noted that I have been very satisfied with Samsung phones for many years. Second, the Galaxy S21 phone as designed may work perfectly, however,....
The S21 specification should clearly state what is not included such as: - Phone needs a phone jack or an adapter for a phone jack for people who cannot use bluetooth headsets. - Found out when the phone was delivered SD cards cannot be used. Very disappointing since the only memory option was 128 GB onboard. If a 256 GB option was available it was not offered as part of the upgrade with trade in. - Screen activation can only be done by the side button. No screen activation button at the bottom of the screen like my Galaxy S8. Very disappointing since I use this almost exclusively. - When sending a text message the option to place a phone call to the same number was not found. Instead the phone app has to be accessed and the destination number had to be looked up to make the call. Again my S8 has the "in text" call option which is used frequently in work situations. It may be there but was not obvious and the phone is being returned without further exploration.
Only one day of using this phone was necessary to decide it is not what I need for personal use or for work and I use my phone extensively for work.
Instead I've decide to keep the S8 and have a new battery installed. It is a solid phone and still works well.

Fingerprint, face recognition suck

I bought this phone last year after years of Motorola phones, thinking I was upgrading to a "flagship" Android phone. The phone itself - sound, screen, performance, battery life - is okay, nothing particularly compelling. It comes with plenty of Samsung bloatware that can't be taken off. But my biggest complaints are the fingerprint reader and face recognition, neither of which works very well. More often than not, I stare at my phone for several seconds only to get "Face not recognized", or I press my thumb multiple times, like an idiot, only to have to enter my passcode or password to get into the phone or apps. Since the fingerprint reader is in the glass, you can't get a tempered glass screen protector, just a flexible plastic sheet, but it works the same with or without the protector. If you get this phone, be prepared to remember all your passwords.

Just angry

I got this phone not even a year ago traded it in for the IphoneX as I was having issues with apple too but the issues with Samsung are just worst. Like I said it hasn't even been a year and its so glitchy and freezy. it will glitch out and close you app out of no where. When it freezes you cant even restart it. Don't even get me started on how often it updates without warning or permission, it probably updates every week 1-3 times. I guess what im most angry about is how you can trade in every single other Galaxy for an iPhone except the S21 5g. you can trade in the s22 5g, the s21 fe 5g, the s21, s20 5g but not the s21 5g? Im just vey upset with the Samsung's performance and now wanna trade it in for apple again but now I cannot. there isnt one single iPhone you can trade in with this phone that would be worth getting. For a phone released in 2021 im highly upset. Now i have to finish paying off this phone then get a apple just to get rid of this trashy phone. If your trying Samsung for the first time do not get this phone. you'll hate it then be mad like me when you cant trade it in like everyone else who owns any other galaxy can. Only decent thing I've liked is the camera quality. That was at least nice.
