Prefer the Clara to the Pour Over.

I have tried a number of french presses. I have a glass one, an uninsulated metal press that I use camping, and now the Clara. I have noticed that I use less coffee beans to make better coffee using the Clara. I think that may be due to holding the heat longer, but I'm not really sure. I have the Fellow Pour Over Carafe also. I prefer the Clara French press for flavor and temperature retention.
I have no complaints with Clara French press itself. The vacuum insulated canister keeps my coffee piping hot two or even three hours after I've made it, and being made of metal it's studier than the many (broken) Bodums I've owned over the years. My complaint is about the beautiful but dysfunctional walnut press. After just two weeks of use my press handle came unstuck. Worse, it's already showing signs of water damage. And try as I might, I can't keep it dry while rinsing the device. In short, don't be led astray by the walnut's aesthetic enchantments. Stick with the original (and save money in the process).

Great product. Definitely keeps coffee hotter for longer than any other french press we've ever had. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Convenient, nice looking, tasty, expensive

Makes a nice French press coffee and definitely keeps it warmer than a standard French press. The warmth also helps with the flavor/immersion. It's also sized to work perfectly with the Stagg kettle (and, I suspect, their other kettles), which is convenient. The press/filter itself works well (though not quite as well as another company's French press that I recently tried out), and it is truly easier to clean than other presses I've tried. That said, the handle wobbles just a tiny bit, the coffee, while better than a standard press, is not quite as good as with the best press I've tried, and I don't think for most people it would be worth the huge premium over other presses. That said, it is convenient, it looks great, it's the perfect size for us, and I appreciate that it does keep the coffee warmer for longer, so we're going to keep it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love this part. I’ve had it before, but the wooden top rotted off and I could no longer use the pot. I tried to get a replacement but was unable to without the sale receipt. It was a gift to me. So I bought another one. I think you need to tell people not to get that wooden top wet at all overtime it will get rotted. I never put it in the dishwasher, but I had put it in my sink to wash it. you can’t get that top wet.

Love the look and appearance. Works exceptionally well. We would love it if they would make a milk froth or as well. A great completion to the set. Just a thought…

The inside lines for measuring coffee and water are barely legible.
