Fine press pot but a couple little issues.

We love our new Clara French Press. We used it for two weeks of travel in our van and it was the perfect amount of coffee for the two of us, kept the coffee nice and hot, and was easier to clean than any other press pot we've used. Above all, the coffee tasted great! Now, the reasons I didn't give this a five star rating. The rounded contours of the bottom make the pot quite tippy, especially if the surface it's setting on isn't level or totally flat. We didn't have it tip over but there were some close calls. The other is that the black finish chipped off in numerous spots around the top edge. We were not handling this roughly and feel that is a weak spot in the finishing of an otherwise superb product. Overall, it's a keeper, just not quite perfect.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Didnt like the coffee ground line. Cleaned easy and is ergonomic but didnt keep heat as long as I'd prefer for the price point.

The top part breaks easily. I got a replacement. But it's still wiggly.

Disappointing

I was so hyped to get this after watching reviews. Love the look and design. Leaks constantly, hard to press and bubbles up. Warranty is only 30 days. Exchanged for new one and same problems. Id rather have bought 5 cheap ones than this one.

Prefer the Clara to the Pour Over.

I have tried a number of french presses. I have a glass one, an uninsulated metal press that I use camping, and now the Clara. I have noticed that I use less coffee beans to make better coffee using the Clara. I think that may be due to holding the heat longer, but I'm not really sure. I have the Fellow Pour Over Carafe also. I prefer the Clara French press for flavor and temperature retention.

Best French Press of the many I’ve owned
on March 17, 2025

I’m very old on a “small” fixed income & have been French pressing coffee using glass, stainless & ceramic presses for half of my life. Without any reservation, I can say that this Fellow Clara press is the best I’ve ever owned. It is well designed & with good heat retention & I can actually taste the difference wherein this press out performs all of the others. It’s not just a looker. I suggest that you treat the wood handle & knob with something before using. I first used multiple coating of mineral oil or suggest something else (does not have to be food grade) because repeated washings can visually damage natural wood overtime. Otherwise, purchase this model without wood accents. Age brings knowledge through experience. So, heed my advice & you should be happy. I’m actually thrilled that I bit the bullet & splurged to recently purchase it. This one is sturdy & should last. Had it been available for sale decades ago, I wouldn’t have incrementally spent good money on broken glass carafe’s & cracked ceramic press parts. I took time to write this to help consumers & I do not enjoy writing surveys or reviews. Learn from my having done things the hard way & listening to those who only believe they’re helping others. I don’t lie, cheat or steal so be cognizant of my moral character & commonsense.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Beautiful, but over engineered

Clara is a beautiful object, and that fact heavily influenced my buying decision. It handles nicely, but it feels over engineered for a French Press. There are too many plastic parts and I am not sure about the coating on the inside. I’ve been using simple glass and stainless steel French Presses for a very long time. To me what makes a French Press is simplicity. Clara is also advertised as insulated and to hold the temperature. I was surprised by how fast my coffee would go cold in this press. My simple glass press seems to hold temperature as well if not better. Lastly, Clara is overpriced.
