From a long-time Singer machine owner, this is a nice upgrade. Great machine, sews through both heavy denim and lightweight window sheers. But I do agree with previous reviews, not sure about the many plastic parts holding up for the duration. Happy with the purchase!

My first computerized machine and I love it!

I'm very happy with this machine. It's my first computerized sewing machine, so it takes a little getting used to. I love how slow and steady the stitches can go when you're in a tricky spot. I love all the different choices of stitches that it has. The automatic threading contraption is really nice at my age.
The one thing that I kind of feel "meh" about is the automatic buttonhole. Don't get me wrong, it's great if you are actually sewing on a button along with the buttonhole. But sometimes you need to do a buttonhole (like for a drawstring) and you don't have a button for it, so it makes it difficult to figure out the correct size for the buttonhole. And, there is no way to switch and just do a manual 4-step button hole (for example). That would be a nice addition - the option to do a manual 4-step button hole. Yes, you could do it manually like really from scratch, but no one wants to have to do that, lol.
I have not had any issues working with denim or other thick fabrics. Denim is actually my favorite to work with which is why I wanted a "heavy duty" machine, for all those layers. I would never force any sewing machine to power through a bunch of thick layers on it's own motor power, though - I usually hand-crank the needle through those areas myself.
I don't love the "overcast" stitches on this machine and so I've been using my serger to neaten fabric edges. I have found that for more flimsy fabrics, the overcast stitches pull the edge of the fabric in really tight which then makes your pattern piece smaller, and I don't want to have to think too hard about what my new seam allowances should be, lol. Not a huge deal or even a deal breaker - most (all?) machines are like this.
But like I said, I really am fond of this machine and am happy I purchased it. I hope it lasts for years and years. I've had it for a few months now and have done at least a half dozen projects with it ranging from tote bags to evening wear. So far so good!

I couldn’t be happier with my new machine. I can’t wait to finish a project so I can start another.
I find it to be a solidly constructed, yet easy to transport.This machine works well with all fabrics and thicknesses. Comes with a multitude of presser foots and other useful items. It also offers the option for foot petal or button control. It has a nice selection of stitch options, for both construction and decoration, with easy selection and set- up.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like this machine.Its so quiet and easy to use.I have seen many items on this machine and love it.I could use to work on specific jobs like doing jeans hems and other havier fabrics and so far I am not disappointed.The very bright LED light brightens and lights up the work space.The bobbin cover is clear.The stitching control is easy to change from one to another without fuss.This is the first machine Brother has made with a metal inner frame.Its a fun to be able to easily decorate my daughter ‘s skirts!Anyone looking for a new sewing machine would be happy with this!

Seems like an extremely professional and expensive machine but is very well priced considering everything it does. Excited to make lots of new items, including beautiful curtains for my daughter’s bedroom. So far I have no complaints. Definitely recommend!

STURDY AND STRONG

I'm extremely pleased with this sewing machine. I'm some what experienced at sewing, I've made curtains, hemmed pants, made a few clothes and made mask for our local nursing home residents. Brothers new strong and sturdy has improved the sewing machine with computerized functions simplifying this machine, with new features such as the very bright LED light the light brightens and lights up the workspace. There is a lot of personal control in terms of sewing speed, starting and stopping, and raising the needle up and down. The stitch selection includes standard, utility, stretch, and decorative stitches. The needle threader works great also super easy to thread. The bobbin cover is clear, and so easy to use. This is huge, as you can see when the bobbin thread is low without having to stop sewing and open the slot where the bobbin is stored also, There are 50 built-in stitches, which is a lot of your primary task is stitching. Nonetheless, this machine does such a good, reliable, predictable and
satisfying job. I highly recommend
