Fragile but gorgeous

I’ve never written a review but I’ve been building seriously for about 10 years. I’m a Star Wars fan and the original R2-D2 is probably what started it. Since then I’ve done several other large SW characters, a couple of cars and the enormous 11k world map. This is the first time I was disappointed and felt compelled to write a review. As I said this is gorgeous and will definitely be on display for Halloween. However, as others have noted, the elevator on this is terrible. The chain is fragile and not capable of carrying the weight of the car. I removed a link but it still won’t work properly. I’ve already ordered the power pack but may return it since I can’t believe it will help. The roof pieces are a bit unstable and I’m now afraid to move it now that it is built. Since I don’t have children it’s not a big deal that it can’t be “played with” and that’s why I still have it a decent rating. It depends on your purpose whether it is a good value.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great set

so far my favorite set, really enjoyed putting it together as i did not have any issued assembling the elevator or its mechanism.

Great Product but Some Issues

The product is great. There are a couple of areas where the instructions could be a little clearer. There were about three times I had to go back and correct something that was unclear.
Also, the elevator doesn't work as it should. The motor doesn't bring it to the focal points, the window in the middle, the open doors at the top, and the bottom.

Well represents Halloween theme

Pros: Awesome build with lots of story elements, cool mechanism that drives the elevator ride, displays very well, the height of the set is super amazing.
Cons: With a tad bit more effort (and pieces) this could be amazing... Like shingled room and some more textured surfaces. Not really a con as much as this set is just almost an expert set.

So Spooky

Loved building this. Took me a couple nights, but definitely satisfied with the result. Only complaint is that the elevator sometimes gets snagged on the shaft going up and can get disconnected. Other than that, no complaints at all!

Beware elevator

My ten-year-old grandson never could get the elevator to work properly. He has successfully motorized many builds including trains and the Nintendo and a streetcar. He also built his own motorized working elevator a couple years ago, but this just would not operate. It stops not quite all the way to the top, even without the motorization. Very disappointed
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're sorry to hear that your grandson ran into trouble with his build. From what you've described, a little rebuilding might be in order. It's best to double-check that each part is in the exact position shown in the instructions and that everything's pressed together tightly (except the gears, which need some extra room to turn). Very fun

Lots of fun mini builds within, some cool technical elements with the door and elevator. Exterior got a little repetitive but not in a way that was unenjoyable. Very fun, would buy again

This is an excellent build and such fun! As long as you get the chain tight, not loose and the gears loose not tight, it works great! I read the reviews and did that when I built it and it works perfectly! Love this!!
