Real Back Saver

Finally got snow so I could try out this little Gem. I purchased it to use on our raised wood deck. It has always been a back breaker clearing the snow and throwing it over the railing. We got about 8" of snow and I tried the Snow Joe for the first time. I used power, not battery, because of the amount of snow. It cleared it the 8" with no problem and was so easy to use. I had the entire deck cleared in less than 20 minutes. I LOVE this Snow Joe, only wish I had it a few years ago - it sure saves the back. My deck has 2 levels and it is so light and easy to pick up to the upper level. I purchased the cover and can leave it on the deck against the house covered when not in use. Doesn't get any easier and never thought I would look forward to clearing the snow from the deck.

Died after 2nd use. Should have bought warranty

My first use was in about 2 inches of snow with the battery. It didn't throw the snow very far. Decided to use the power chord, as I heard it is more powerful. Running off a power chord is significantly more powerful.
Second snowfall, I decided to just use the chord. I was clearing the end of the driveway from the plow. I must have been a little aggressive. The SnowJoe started to bog down and then just stopped. I released the lever, cleared the front and chute. Then went to start it again, it won't start.
Decided to try the battery again. As soon as I plug in the battery, the auger starts running (without hitting the safety switch and pulling back the safety lever). As long as the battery is installed, the blades are spinning. The only way to turn it off is to unplug the battery.
I have owned this for just a couple weeks, used it twice. No longer works when plugged in. On battery, only way to turn off is to unplug the battery. This seems like a hazard. I am guessing I simply received a lemon compared to all the positive reviews. HIGHLY recommend the extra warranty. I opted not to purchase. Now I have a snow blower that won't work when plugged in and is a hazard on battery since the safety levers don't stop the engine.

I fractured my Knee cap several weeks ago, but I am able to run this little snow blower with minimal effort. I don't think I could have shoveled the 6" of heavy wet snow with my knee not fully healed yet.
Pros: lightweight, easy assembly and easy to use. Great for clearing off my deck, small sidewalk and the cement slab in front of my garage.
Cons: battery life is short, but if you have a small area to clear you should be fine! The rotating chute is nice, but it doesn't rotate well if there's any amount of snow around it.
Also you have to take your time and small "stabs" at heavy wet snow. That is not necessarily a con, it's a little snow blower after all. I just moved 6" heavy wet snow, and it took me about an hour. Unfortunately my battery died so I have to charge it before I can do the rest.

I would give it 5 stars but don't have snow to get rid of yet. But it's light and easy to assemble. Love the fact it's battery powered and can switch to electric powered main reason why I bought it.

Customer service is awesome

Had my original ion18sb for a couple months and used it maybe a handful of times. After clearing out my driveway I was making one final pass and the auger started sputtering out. I stopped and tried to turn it back on buck the auger wouldn't budge, no blockage, wasn't seized up, battery at 60% and everything else worked.
I ended up calling customer service and they are sending me a new unit no questions asked. Nothing but impressed with this company.

The product itself isn’t bad. The problem is the safety key falls out easily and once it’s gone, good luck buying a new one. They are never in stock. I basically have an expensive piece of plastic that I have to move out of the way to reach my snow shovel whenever it snows.
