This unit surprised me with its battery life and ease of operation, but I do think it has an issue with its handling of even slightly wet snow. 3 to 5 inches of dry stuff, and it's a champ! Less than an inch? Don't bother: not enough 'pick-up' in this unit's motor to keep the auger fed. Your shovel is faster. More than 6 inches of wet snow, and the auger stalls because it can't dig into the snow and actually pick it up. It will - very slowly - dig through such snow, but then can't throw it very far at all. As long as there's a good amount of dry, clean snow filling the entire width of the unit, it will put the snow 8 to 10 feet away - preferrably close to straight ahead for the best results. Expect a bit of learning to push the unit at just the right pace and angle to not drag it too hard or miss the last bit of snow against the ground. Concrete sidewalks or asphalt driveways are this unit's best surfaces, cleaning right to the ground as it moves along. Had no problems clearing 200 feet of sidewalk completely (4 feet wide) in less than 20 minutes when the snow was dry.

I bought this end of January, after another serious snow in Chicago....hoping that this purchase alone would insure no more snow this winter. No such luck...
So this little machine (i.e. lightweight & quiet) preformed admirably during the snowy February we've had. No serious blizzards...but 6+ inches of fairly heavy snow were easily removed from my 20' x 20' drive. Also handled a rather uneven flagstone path, and my back deck. Time will tell as to its durability, but it seems pretty solid. The motorized chute is a great benefit....clearing a wet snow, it clogged a few times doing the driveway, but a couple of gentle taps cleared the problem each time. Spraying silicone into/onto the moving parts of the chute is a very good idea.

The product was shipped very quickly. It's lightweight but quite efficient. The power is significantly lower with battery (in cordless mode) but works quite well when connected to power using a cable. It does a good job even with 8" of snow and the battery lasts for about 45 minutes.
