Dishwasher Broken Out of the Box

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This unit and Kitchen Aid get one star rating solely because the dishwasher showed up not working. We had it installed by a professional plumber we've used for years. It looks great in our kitchen, but 1) it doesn't fill with water, and 2) the response from customer service was unsatisfactory. If the unit had been working for a while and then failed, I'd understand having to call a local technician myself, but when it just doesn't work out of the box, this kind of "wow, that sucks! You should call someone" response is not what I expect from Kitchen Aid.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had the same dishwasher from Kitchenaid for 13 years and loved it. We purchased the new one, which we were told was the same model only current. The outside of the dishwasher is the same size but the inside is much smaller. The top rack is awful. You cannot fit the same amount of items in this new dishwasher as the old dishwasher. The design is BAD.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Lots of space for a big family

It has a lot of space inside and after a bit of trial and error, I figured out the best way to load it. It's nice and quiet. The control panel is very sensitive and I have accidentally turned it in a couple of times.

Exterior rust within 1 year

Exterior exhibited rust within 1st year. We have a kitchen full of KitchenAid products and when it came time to replace our aged KitcheAid dishwasher the choice was easy. Well, so we thought. We ordered this one and a year later the steam vent showed rust around the opening. After contacting KitchenAid over and over they said it is a cosmetic issue and is not covered by warranty. We are not finishing our basement and decided against KitchenAid products for this reason.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Mostly happy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This model has many of the features we were looking for; it is very quiet, has a number of settings that are useful (express, rinse only etc.) and it really cleans the dishes well! Where we are having problems is with the actual racks that the dishes go in... The top cutlery rack is good, but plates, bowls etc don't stand up straight when loaded in the other 2 racks, they flop over and can rattle a bit. Another problem for us is the fact that we can't place our wine glasses in the racks, we already broke one. We then purchased clips made for this model to help, but found they couldn't accommodate our red wine glasses, only our white. We do spend time trying to make things work with the racks, I just need easy.
