[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this for college/personal use and its great. Had a thinkPad at work and couldnt stand not having the red tracker button on a personal laptop. Its fast, light, and looks good. Only downside is battery life, im getting about 3.5 hours unplugged, would have liked 6+ but not a deal breaker for me.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The laptop itself is solid, and keeps to the quality of the Thinkpad line. I also got this one specifically because of the ability to upgrade memory and hard drives, as well as replace the battery when the time comes. Unfortunately, some interesting design choices by Lenovo forced me into a configuration that comes with very poor battery life. The only touchscreen option is the 4k display. And while it's a beautiful display that I'll likely never take full advantage of, it sucks through battery life. I get less than 4 hours, which is unacceptable. The very high power utilization will also make this difficult to use on an airplane, whose outlets are typically rated much lower than the 170W power requirements of this.
But the main reason I went with this machine instead of another brand is the support of Linux. It worked out of the box on a new Fedora install, and Lenovo has done a great job providing drivers and such. It was a pretty painless install, which is not the case for most laptops.
