[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Most of the features are wonderful and great for handling my computer science college and the work that comes with it. I would love if the battery life was longer but overall, it's a amazing machine and best laptop I have ever owned or used.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had the P1 for about a month. It's awesome! 65G of RAM, 4 terabytes of disk. 8 cores. NVidia graphics, etc. It's a powerhouse. I'm a Thinkpad guy. I write code every day and all day. The trackpoint, touch screen, loads of memory and disk, 16 logical processors, I mean, this is the bomb...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far this has been a solid workstation-laptop. I've been using it daily for the past month, both telecommuting work and personal use. The cooling fans do cycle with more intensive processes, but not an issue for me. I do keep the laptop elevated using a ventilated stand. I believe this helps keep the bottom side cooler with better air flow than sitting flat on a desktop. I also purchased a thinkpad 170w docking station from another supplier. I had no issues with binding or hooking up 2 additional monitors.
Cons.
Custom built laptops take a while to ship. Mine took almost 3 months to arrive. I didn't remove a star, because I understand that most manufacturers are struggling with the pandemic.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recieved this laptop in November for work and it has been absolutely amazing. Fast enough for any task I've thrown at it and has more upgrade-ability than any previous laptop I've owned. The two major complaints I've seen about this laptop are battery life, and fan noise. You should know that 1, this is a professional machine with professional components that will use power and heat up the device, and 2 there are ways to avoid this. Depending on the type of work you do, you can save battery life, fan noise, and money by getting the i7 over the i9 or Xeon if you don't need them. They create more heat and consume more power. Opt for the 1080p screen instead of the 4k unless you need it. 4k consumes significantly more battery. If you can go with the integrated GPU. The other options will consume a lot of power and generate heat. I still have the GPU and with the 1080p display and the i7 I consistently get 7 hours of battery with normal use programming, web browsing, and other general tasks. Long story short this is an amazing device with a lot of capabilities and luckily with the many options you can make it the perfect machine for you.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far so good! Finally splurged on a competent machine after almost a decade of my student laptop. I've always wanted a Thinkpad, and this is it! Best part is that the P1Gen3 is supported by Ubuntu, so I have been able to set up a dual-boot without any issues, and port my Linux work as well. It's been more than a month, but the honeymoon period is still going strong for me and my workstation.
