The initial experience is "WOW". I've had good screens. My old Macbook Pro 16 had a decent screen, the Dell 4K monitor in my office is good. But NOTHING can compare you for the WOW of this display. Every time I open it up I'm amazed. It's ridiculous.
The keyboard is, well, you know, the best. And the size and weight are perfect. You are wondering whether you should worry about the bezels? after all, look at that bezel-less XPS 15? On the OLED you don't notice them, you look at the screen and they melt. If you have a black wallpaper, then even moreso. Seriously, yes, reviewers will wow, and the first time you open an XPS etc you'll think, wow those bezels are small. But in day to day use the eye adjusts and it's meaningless. If someone said - give me 50 bucks to have the bezel size I'd say, "nah, I'm all good". 10 bucks maybe, but it's that insignificant.
Those fans
Right now as I type its plugged in and I can't hear anything. There is a noise that's 99.9% inaudible. When I plug it out, I know the fans were on. They do ramp up when I open Premiere Pro or running some updates. This is normal. I can download fan control and stop that until it gets really hot, but it's fine. Seriously, people worried about the fan noise - don't be. The vast majority of people, yes you, will be fine with fan noise on heavy tasks. It's silent apart from that.
The battery life
The battery life is bad. Do you often need to use your laptop for over 5 hours away from a charger? If so then get a Mac, a chromebook, or a Surface book or laptop. But there's nowhere I go, starbucks, office, home, airport (some day) planes (some day) that don't have outlets. I can use this for 3 hours without ever worrying and then plug it in for a quick top up.
Summary
When you're spending so much money why shouldn't you have great battery life? A good point. But when you're buying a laptop you're not comparing it to the platonic form of a laptop, you're comparing it to the actual real world competition. Maybe, maybe? once a year I might think - "crap! I wish this had better battery life!" but every day, for hours every day I think "Oh my God this screen, this power, this laptop is incredible!". That's what it comes down to, it's not this Vs an imaginary device, it's this Vs the competition. And I'm THRILLED I choose this. It's a joy to use. That matters. And it handles all I need with ease.
So, if you're thinking, yes, the price is low now on the P1 gen 3, but why not wait for the 16x10, and the fans, and the heat, and the battery.... I wouldn't worry. Was I more productive on my Surface Book back in the day? Of course not. Move your taskbar to the left. It's a tiny thing. Yes, I'd take 16x10 for 100 bucks, but the price from what the P1 is at now will be far more! Are the fans too loud? No, loud fans for CAD and PP are fine and unavoidable on any machine. Does the screen, keyboard, power build quality give it an advantage over Dell XPS, Mac, Surface Book etc? In my opinion, yes. 100% yes. So don't worry too much about all the scary threads. I really think if you buy the P1 Gen 3 you'll be as happy as me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Incredible laptop. Very happy I made the purchase. I was on the fence for a while on the P15 or the P15 gen3. But this laptop has such a punch that it lasts for hours without any issue. I purchased the i9, 1tb SSD, and 32gb of ram. I didn't know if the i9 was worth it over my old i7. But there is a clear difference when opening up large programs and compiling software. I would recommend this to anyone

Very fast. 4 times faster than my P71, which is not retiring either, but anyway.....Excellent build quality and speed with 1TB M.2 NVMe drive. Games are even running well on this......
i would recommend to anyone performing complex caclulations, heavy desktop requirements, even works well for hyper-V testing and virtual machines. Can't wait for the next 17Inch model .
