This is my second Lenovo laptop. Before I had the Lenovo y50 gaming laptop. This thinkpad P1 Gen 3 is almost half the weight, twice as strong, super fast start up, and a better experience overall. I do miss the numpad, the ctrl and fn keys are flipped for some reason, and the computer does still run pretty hot if I game or use a 3D modeling program. Regardless, I’m still very satisfied with my purchase.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Initially, I ordered a different Mobile Workstation for School/Work/Personal purposes and the laptop was massive. It was very heavy to carry around. I returned this product and purchased the P1 Gen 3 15" and could not be happier. It is super light weight but the screen is still big enough for all of my work. The processor is super fast and the screen color/resolution is insane. Super happy with this product.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The best laptop I ever owned. This is the second thinkpad I bought. The first one was purchased 6 years ago, and still works great. I just wanted to have an upgrade and landed on this one. Super fast and stable. I am a computer guy and very demanding on computing powers. This is purely for my personal usage, but it is far superior than the work laptop given to me. I also had purchased laptops from other brands, but none could be comparable with this one. Super satisfied.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a long-term user of ThinkPad laptops, I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the P1 Gen 3 workstation.
My first ThinkPad, a 760CD, was purchased in 1995 and lasted seven years. I then bought a ThinkPad T42, which lasted another seven years, until 2009.
At that time, I considered offerings from other companies, and went for a Dell machine. Out of the box, it was a great laptop, but its shortcomings became apparent very soon. Within two years, it was an expensive brick.
In 2011, I went back to ThinkPads, and purchased a T520. This one lasted ten years!
And now, I have a P1 Gen 3. At first, I was worried about the chiclet keyboard, since all my previous ThinkPads had the original IBM-designed keyboards, but my fears were unfounded once I started using it. Keyboard quality is excellent, but long-term durability remains to be seen.
Overall, the P1 Gen 3 is an incredibly high quality machine with phenomenal build quality, and my expectations were exceeded. Hopefully, it will last as long as my previous ThinkPads!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very happy with the form factor and screen. Looking forward to enjoying this for years to come. Battery life is solid on powersave and all my solidworks models run flawlessly in high performance.

Performance laptop but overwhelming fan noise

I bought this P1 Gen3 with pretty much the highest configuration (1TB storage, 32GB RAm, 4K display etc) about 1 month ago. This is meant to be replacement for my T460p. Every time I turn it on to want to use, the fan noise from it bugs me so much, I have not fully dared to use it. So my T460P is my primary PC still. This is still turned off and put away. I used it to listen to music and do browser etc. Still the fan runs loudly no matter what you do it. You put it to sleep, it is still running. Unbelievable! So for me, it has been a brick. I updated the software, BIOS etc. Still not good results. T460P operates quiet whereas this thing is just noisy. Get it if you want a noisy computer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
