Exceeded my expectations

Excellent laptop that provides everything a professional might need. 4K matte screen is great and bright, there are a lot of ports (full size SD card slot too!) and overall build quality is excellent. I was also pleasantly surprised by the fan noise, I expected to be somewhat loud and noisy given the performance of the laptop, but it stays totally quiet most of the time (I use balanced settings when plugged in). I highly recommend this machine to anyone looking for a high-performing laptop in a discrete and relatively light body.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For what it can do, lightweight for a workstation. Fast performance and nice keyboard. Has nice outputs including HDMI and large screen. Fingerprint sign on making it easy to use.

Back in the Saddle - Riding the Mobile Work Horse!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was about time for an update . . . my good ol' reliable ThinkPad X240, upgraded by me with a SSD, was over 8 years old, working fine, but sometimes a little bit slow, not switching between programs with instant results . . . may taking a bit longer to open a big file . . . multitasking a little slower with new complicated updated programs . . . feeling a little hot on my lap, the vents directing a little hot breathe on my arm. So I started looking and the temptation of the latest ThinkPad with full memory was too much to resist . . . . After all the agony of reloading critical programs, the full suite of Office 365, Wordperfect (yep, I am one of those old guys who values control over style),and linking up to cloud services and changing a VGA cable for the HDMI for my dual monitor setup, I am left with a feeling of rejuvenation, as it I just stumbled into the computer world after abandoning tape-driven word processing, a sense of youthful possibilities --- my computer ready for any challenge, fending off a North Korean invasion, finishing a three-part legal brief with 76 exhibits, coordinating a massive ZOOM meeting, less gratifying: finishing off my accounting reconciliation (gotta get AI working on that . . .) It's a good feeling -- my computer won't hold me back or slow me down -- the keyboard is as good as ever, the pointing button still there embedded in the keyboard, the standard touchpad easy to use, the fingerprint sensor a little different: doesn't want a sliding move but otherwise ready to go. The ports are the biggest change: HDMI for VGA, two USB-C ports and 2 USB-3, no Ethernet but a USB-C dongle to use, still a audio output for my speakers. I feel confident that a docking station would be easy to install and could simplify connections, but what is available feels totally adequate for any mobile needs that I might encounter. While I haven't tested battery life, the portability feels right - the tradeoff correctly balanced, thinner than my old X240 but bigger with the screen, and apparently no longer a need for open venting -- the chassis warm but not hot. The overall feeling is stability -- this computer wil carry me forward without restriction, probably another 8 years, climbing whatever hills we may encounter, supporting new challenges and keeping me in the fight. Having grown up on a cattle ranch, it's the feeling of well-trained and superbly conditioned work horse, as we ride off into a new day!

Superb with a few significant annoyances

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great laptop (slim, well-built), however there are several annoyances that I am almost ready to return the laptop
1. NOISY LEFT CLICK BUTTON: Naturally, you click the left click button with the right hand (for right-handers). Since the button is on the left, you tend to depress the button on the far right side. However, clicking on this side of the button is extremely loud for a thinkpad. It's unacceptable in a quiet environment like a shared office or coffee shop. I also have an X1 Carbon which has super quiet buttons that I love. Bad design. I am close to removing the buttons to figure out a way to quiet them.
2. SHORTCUTS DON'T WORK (Adobe/C4D)
In Adobe applications like Illustrator, Photoshop & After Effects, the space bar shortcut to Pan does NOT work. Also when clicking the "Z" key to zoom, you need to click twice before it responds to the zoom command. In Cinema 4d, none of the 1, 2, or 3 keys for navigating work at all. I previously returned a P1 gen2 for this reason and then noticed the same issue with an older W541 thinkpad. All the shortcuts work with an externally attached keyboard, so there's an ISSUE with the thinkpad KEYBOARD. Spent hours trying to figure it out with Adobe and Lenovo with no luck. Because an external keyboard works, it's definitely a LENOVO issue. Please reach out to me if you know the solution to this. This is almost a show-stopper for me.
