Fun build, great for Lego and Car lovers

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a challenging and fun build. I'm not sure how long it took as I worked on it an hour or so over a few days. Some parrs around the engine are a little hard to get in. I also thought one set of instructions was out of order but it did work. This is absolutely an adult set. I appreciate the attention to details. The steering wheel turns the wheels, the doors open, the pistons move. As a sports car lover, this was so fun to work on. Just goes to show you that you are never too old for Legos!

Good and bad

The 488 is a beautiful car, and unfortunately this build comes up short in the looks department. The large gaps really interrupt the lines of the car, and the body panels should have been gloss red rather than matte red, which is unattractive even when covered with stickers. The end result is also a bit less solid than I would prefer. The build itself was very interesting and entertaining though.

Fun 9 1/2 Hours

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My sisters and I spent a fun day building this Ferrari together, 9 1/2 hours total. The quality of the bricks is excellent, with the Technic bricks. Very sturdy. There were a few confusing parts in the instructions, particularly the "add to the car" parts (when you build a part and then need to attach it to the car) which is the only reason I gave 4 stars. The detail is amazing, it looks like the real car. It's also huge, definitely a showpiece. The details like moving engine parts are just incredible.

Looks good, but costs more

I love the Technic car line and I had to get this one as soon as it came out. The car is striking to look at and the build process is easy. The build is very similar to the 911 RSR Technic set, as they are around the same piece count. However, this set costs more. I think it's a little overpriced but I'm still happy with how it looks next to the Porsche. My only gripe about this set is the amount of stickers, and how much gap there is between the wheels and the fenders. With a simple mod however, the car can be lowered to look more like the real car!

I went crazy building this, but then I wanted two!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I almost forgot how much fun Lego builds were. Building the Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51” was a roller coaster of emotions. Excited to see what the end product would look like, happy to have a challenging puzzle in front of me, and frustrated when I would lose track of a piece. Watching my progress almost made sad to finish it, but I was anxious to get another version of this. It brought back a feeling of watching my work when I was a junior Lego builder, but with the advanced experience of working with it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the Lego Technic Ferrari for my son who is an avid Lego builder. He has always built sets that were above his age and this was no exception. The set is labeled for 18+ and if you are a casual Lego builder it will be a struggle. However, the end result is remarkable and will be a show piece my son keeps with him as he grows up. Keeping in mind my son is 10 this build took him close to three weeks, that included a lot of breaks and doing other things in between working on sections. I was suprised that there where only a few times that he got stuck needing help, mostly my job was putting on the stickers (which there are a lot of). The end result gives a display worthy Lego set that sits in a place of honor in my son's room. The only down side is now I am worried that he is going to want the real thing.

Underrated project

Had a great time with this. Most low star reviews state it is “too difficult” or “hard to follow”. I assure you, building this car is challenging, but doable and rewarding. Don’t gift this to your 7 year old, but most will eventually get it built if you just pay attention to the details. This Ferrari 488 Gte is extremely detailed (if you could manage to replace the fake motor with a small electric one, Stewart Little could drive this around). Not to mention it looks awesome when built. I chose not to put all the stickers on, as I think some are tacky looking. I’m a huge car guy, and who doesn’t love legos. I plan to have it on my shelf for years to come.

Challenging but enjoyable

This was one of the most challenging builds I've done only out done by the Bugatti Chiron. There are a lot of stickers but I became pretty good at it by the end. I don't know how people have missing parts. Out of 23 kits I've only had one kit that was missing a part and I found it inside of one of the tires. (Knock on wood) Next is the Porsche 911RSR with no numbered bags. Should be challenging again.
