Love this set! I was wanting it for a long time, and finally got it right before it went out of stock. It’s a shame it’s retiring, it’s one of the better modulars in my opinion.

Unique Police Station
on September 22, 2021

Hello…I just completed building this set and I had lots of fun doing it. This build has very unique detail that I have not seen before. I have been building these modular sets for quite a long time and have learned a lot about the designing skills that Lego has. I have tried my hand at building my own police station and I must admit this build is very decorative. So, my town has a “Police Headquarters” and a city Police Station. The only thing that I find a problem is the use of black sheets that the instructions are printed on…this makes it difficult to see dark pieces, their shapes and colors. Lego should consider people with poor eyesight due to old age, still love to build. For those that say they are missing pieces…I find when I think I am missing a piece, I most likely used that piece in the wrong place. I go back into the instructions and sure enough, I messed up. I recommend purchasing this set because it sure is unique! The last picture is the police station I built from a lot of left over pieces.

Great set - hard to read

Very fun to build with each level being very different (as opposed to the garage where the top two levels are essentially identical). Only drawback is that printing on the black background makes it almost impossible to make out the shapes in the darker colors. Oddly enough the black pieces are easier because they put a white border around them, but brown and dark blue just blend right into the page so you have to guess what pieces you're trying to find. Maybe my eyes are just getting old, but if you're designing these builds for adults you should take that into consideration.

We're glad you enjoyed this beautiful build! There's no date to share yet but we'll be moving away from dark building instructions pages based on fan feedback. Until then, you can find higher-contrast digital instructions at LEGO.build/BI-BV to help out!

So, yeah, it's just a toy. But, I got into Legos during lockdown, building Upside Down, Medieval Blacksmith, some similarly-scaled Harry Potter... and I have thoroughly enjoyed weirding them all up a bit. "POLICE" is not out front of this building. To me, it's a Co-op and Artists Building with Donut Shop! I've added a bunch of personal touches everywhere and continue to evolve the architecture, plant life, mini-figs, etc. These are the dollhouses I wanted as a child- but they didn't exist and I couldn't afford them! So, yeah, this is just a toy, but it's also not. It's an experience that evolves the more I play with it.

Great set, however...

I love this set's architecture and look, don't get me wrong. It's another fantastic addition to the modulars, and finally, a tall set for the first time in ages-many of the previous ones have been shorter than average, so a taller, towering build is welcomed. Hence why my rating for the set itself is 5 out of 5. As a set, it's everything I want out of a modular.
However, I have a huge issue with the box art itself, and the 18+ branding in general. While this is nitpicky at best, I feel like the complaint is worth bringing up. The black background makes the set look a lot less appealing compared to other modulars, such as the Bookshop or Assembly Square- these sets have lively and welcoming background and visuals that make you excited to build the set. While this Police Station has a great build experience, the box does nothing to entice the buyer. It's literally a nothing background. I am not sure if the idea was to denote "maturity" and look "distinguished," but it's a huge downgrade to the boxes of yesteryear. Keep the 18+ branding if really wanted, but give the background a blue sky, at the very least. It could go a long way in making the sets seem appealing, and keeping a consistent look amongst the Modular Buildings boxes, which many fans do enjoy collecting.

Hours of just a fun time

Was looking for a bigger set to just take my time and build over a couple days, but once I started this set I just couldn’t stop. There’s so many awesome details and colors used not to mention unique build techniques. I love placing minifgures throughout the scene as well.

Return of the Big Boys!

For whatever reason, I was hesitant to purchase this year's modular when I saw the initial pictures back in November 2020. After seeing more of the interior and seeing how tall the structure is, my wife and I decided to buy and add this to our collection.
And we're very happy we did! The build is incredibly fun, with lots of fun details, most seen, some hidden, and the height and width of the set, reminded us of the buildings from the gold and silver eras of modulars past. Though we've enjoyed the previous iterations the last three years, it's nice to have a larger, new set.
