As usual, no missing pieces and coherent instructions.
The donuts-cops play is a tired cliche. The entire build should have been a police station. Another good modular.

Interesting build

As a newly revived lego fan with a long dark period that ended in March, this is the last of the four currently available modulars that I’ve put together. The stairway is a definite highlight. The palette may be the best of all the lego I’ve built since March, which includes about eight large sets totaling 30k pieces. I appreciate the designer’s sensibility and his work on a couple of the Christmas village sets. I found the Humperdinck Opera ‘Hansel und Gretel’ to be compatible with the feeling of the set as I built it on a rainy day. The idea that this is a period piece is easy to feel, and the quality of hue suggests masonry from Italy to New York. The window columns are for the most part single pieces which is a nice break from the candle stick construction on the window pillars on the hotel and the bookshop house. The technique for the coffers under the windows is quite impressive and worth the cost almost in itself. The antennas on the roof are a little bent, and I’m not sure some flexing with the hands won’t help that problem!

Amazing Details and Functions!

When I had finished this set I was astonished by how many cool features this set had! Like the working open trap door, the contraband room, the cool old-school prison cell with an escape route. It all came to life when you played it!

Fine, but not great

I’ve built many of the modular buildings, and this one missed the mark for me. I usually get some excitement while building these when I see how pieces fit together or what goes on each floor, but not this time. The second and third floors especially didn’t have any “wow” moments.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
