Fantastic motion options but too large overall

Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel, I was given the mamaRoo sleep bassinet to try out on my baby son when he was five weeks old. We tried it out night and day for two weeks, and ultimately liked it best for daytime naps.
It was super easy to assemble--though take care when snapping in the bars that expand and support the mesh bassinet top. After assembling, we were surprised how large it is, and for our situation it proved too large. I had hoped to have it bedside but it took up too much floor space and we used it on the other side of our bedroom. In terms of operating the functions (motion, sound) during the night, having the bassinet away from your bedside is not a problem, as you can download an app for the bassinet and connect your phone via Bluetooth to the bassinet to operate from a distance. And you can set a timer for the functions, which is probably the best feature of the app--and honestly, the only reason I think the app is necessary.
For our situation, the bassinet's best feature is its fantastic motion options. There are five motions in all, my son's favorite seemingly the "kangaroo" motion, with a close second the "tree swing." And you can adjust the speed of the motion, so if your baby is particularly upset about going to bed, try and speed it up. The higher speed distracted him enough to calm him down.
It also offers four sounds. We used these infrequently, as he doesn't need white noise to sleep. However, the rain and ocean-wave sounds are quite pleasant, and you can adjust the volume from very faint to super loud to drown out pretty much all other ambient noise. The bassinet also has a vibration feature, which was our absolute favorite function until it started making a really loud buzzing sound after about five days' use. Could just be a glitch with our particular model, or perhaps an issue with how we assembled, but super irritating nonetheless. Something to watch out for if you purchase this bassinet.
The sides of the bassinet are made of mesh—a safety feature, though also great for visibility. During the day, I place my son in the bassinet for naps and while he's falling asleep or after he wakes he can see me through the mesh, which makes him coo. He also likes to touch/scratch the mesh texture. The mat inside the bassinet is very thin but dense enough to provide (surprisingly) enough cushion. It comes with an attractive charcoal-colored cover, too, which washes up easily. The bassinet also has a storage basket underneath, which is awesome for storing burp rags or diapers, if you do bedside diaper changes.
Overall, I would recommend this bassinet for those looking for a sleep solution for fussy babies who respond well to swings or car drives and just need extra motion. I can't speak for how well the sounds work to help baby sleep--as my son sleeps fine in silence--but I would also recommend this product for the vibration feature, which soothes my son immediately. Beware the size of this product, though, and measure your space carefully before purchasing. Best for spacious rooms!

Great soothing bassinet!

We love this product! My newborn daughter sleeps great in the Mamaroo Sleep. Some of the features I like the most are:

- definitely promotes safe sleep. The mattress pad is firm but not hard and snug to the frame. The sides are mesh for breath ability.
- Sound feature; having a background noise function is so important to block out everything else
- App compatible- LOVE that I can control the motion and sound with my phone!
- Motion- I use this more for nap times when my daughter is cycling through sleep. We are still getting the hang of it but I think she likes the Kangaroo setting the best!
- Style: fits into any decor, very modern looking
- Adjustable height— love that it can be adjusted!
-Super easy to set up as well!
The only negative I’d say is that I’m sad that she’ll grow out of it in a few months!

Awesome sleep!

To be honest at first I wasn’t convinced that the bassinet was anything special. However after a few days my baby started sleeping so well! I’m not sure if it was all due to this bassinet but I think it really helped. I love the motion and easy touchscreen. My only criticism is the start of the motion is fairly abrupt. It would be better if it eased into the motion better. I love that this bassinet incorporates a flat sleeping surface as well as motion. My favorite motion was the “rock a bye”. The app was great but I didn’t use it very much. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a bassinet for their new baby! Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this bassinet.

Perfect for the rocking parent!

I couldn’t believe it when my son fell asleep before the circadian rhythm. Whenever I rocked him and placed him down in his crib, his arms would raise and wake up immediately. It was so exhausting as a new mom. When I placed him in this, he continued to sleep and would finally give me some time to sleep, do the dishes and care for my other kids. This helped get rid of mom guilt so much. It took a little time to adjust and I made sure he was burped and changed.

Love this bassinet!

The mamaroo sleep bassinet is an outstanding new product to the market! I’m a mama to two littles under 3 and this bassinet allows me to get much needed sleep (or chores around the house completed) with a peace of mind. The sleep surface is the perfect size and the mesh sides allow you to see baby with just a glance. The motion, vibration and sound settings make it all the more soothing for baby (my little prefers the rockabye motion). I honestly didn’t think I would use the remote capabilities when paired with my cellphone, but to my surprise it came in handy on many occasions! The bassinet is on the larger side (quite wide), so make sure you have the space for it! Now I don’t want to brag or imply that the bassinet is the sole reason, but my 6 week old baby is sleeping 7hr stretches over night and that makes me a happy mama! Thank you, Stellar Product Testing Panel, for providing me with this bassinet!

This bassinet is amazing! The different movement options for baby are so soothing, my 7 week old baby’s went from sleeping 3 hours to sleeping 6-7 hours. The bassinet’s height is adjustable and the sides are mesh making it easy to view baby from your bed. It’s is definitely a safe sleep option that I felt very comfortable putting my newborn in to sleep. The design is so sleek and doesn’t take up a ton of room, the storage basket is perfect for storing diapers and extra clothes for those late night changes. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this bassinet.

I received this bassinet as a member of the stellar product testing panel and it is amazing. We were using a well reviewed and very popular bassinet prior to receiving to test and we have since sold that one because we are not going back! This bassinet was easy to assemble and is just the right size to fit next an adult bed but also hold baby for the first few months. It has great sound and motion options to help newborns sleep and stay sleeping. I loved that I could use both the bassinet itself and the app to control the motion, sounds, volume, etc. The timer was also a nice feature! My baby slept longer in this bassinet from day one and she continues to sleep great averaging about 9-10 hours at night (2.5 months old). The mattress and mesh siding gave me comfort knowing she was in a safe place and I could still see her when I wanted to check on her at night. I love this bassinet!

Sleep Bassinet Success!

I'm a mom of three kiddos, ages 3, almost 2 and 1 month. It's very important to make sure that all of my children have quality, safe sleep, which in turn results in quality sleep for me and my husband. I was recently given the opportunity to review the new mamaRoo Sleep Bassinet by Stellar Product Testing Panel.
When I opened the bassinet's box, I noticed that the instructions made it easy to assemble. That's a win in my book! No one wants complicated instructions. As I put the bassinet together, I observed several great safety features. There are bars that make up part of the bassinet's structure. Those bars snap snugly into place and keep the bassinet sturdy, creating a safe sleeping area for my baby. The whole unit is quality built, which makes me feel confident in the safety of the bassinet. A soft, yet firm, pad provides a comfortable laying space, that isn't overstuffed, for safety. The sides of the bassinet are made of a mesh material, which allows airflow, even if my child were to roll up against the side.
My baby currently won't fall asleep on her own, but will continue to sleep, for 30 minutes or longer, if I place her in this bassinet. It has a great variety of movement types, speed, and sounds. Every baby isn't the same, so I feel that the variety helps everyone find settings they like. My baby preferred the lowest movement setting, the wave movement and water sounds on the lowest volume.
I tried out the app and it worked like a charm! It was easy to connect to my phone and will come in handy if I'm in bed or in the restroom and need to restart the bassinet and can't reach it from where I am.
I would have given this bassinet a 5 because I love it, but the one thing I'd want to see improvement on is the legs of the bassinet. I might just be being nit picky, but I noticed that the lower half of the legs come off very easily. Although I like being able to pick a height for the bassinet, I would prefer if the leg extensions were attached more securely.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this bassinet and look forward to using it more with my baby!
