Makes tax preparation possible without a CPA

I had a new source of income this year. It was an installment sale of some farm rental property. Turbo Tax had the forms for it and led me through it so that what at first looked complicated turned out to be easy. I also had a K-1 form with QBI. Turbo Tax handled that well also.

Easy step was more confusing this year.

I found easy step much more difficult to use this year. One of our 1099s was applicable to a self employed business and I was not asked if this 1099 was applicable to Schedule C. I also had a difficult time entering a SEP contribution related to the self employment business. I did have a good experience with a TT call to a support assistant who was very helpful

Turbo Tax Had 2 Problems for Me

Credit Card Payment Problem: Since I have poor vision, I use 150% display setting on my computer. Therefore the Credit card form first page did not display the "Continue" button to allow moving to the next function and the scroll bar did not work to allow me to access the rest of the page. Second Problem: Moved from Ohio to Delaware in 2021 and not able to explain why my mailing address was to a different state. For Ohio local tax purposes, had to provide the Ohio county that did not match with my Delaware address.

- Not that much better than competition (taxAct)
- Expansive for what it offers (Delux version)
- While it's more straightforward than Taxslayer, at the end of the day, the tax calculation ends up being the same, for 1/2 price....
- Number of instances requireing redundant data entry from last year- real nuisance!
- I really wish they just included the cost of uploading the State return in the price, upfront.
It takes several minutes and number of mundane steps to pay extra. And no, I do not want to open an account with Intuit, just to pay via CC! Aside from that, it appears the software states it's extra $20 to upload. It's actually $25.
