2021 Federal & State Income Tax
on February 23, 2021

The program is great, but the filing fees are outrageous and the version that I purchased included the Federal e-file 5 uses and the State e-file one use. I was charged $20 to file the State and $40 for direct deposit to my bank. I will not use Turbo Tax again, because of these fees.
Pros: My employment status changed this year

I've used Turbo tax for all of my professional career in filing taxes. It is intuitive and easy to use. I've never had any problems in using this product. I would recommend to any that is even a novice in filing a simple personal tax return.

Review For Errors Needs Work
on February 23, 2021
Posted by: MN Mark
Overall, Turbo Tax is a pretty good way to file but there are frustrating problems with the way certain errors are overlooked by the software until the very last step when you are attempting to transmit your Federal and State e-file returns. Perhaps this is an issue specific to the MN state portion of Turbo Tax, but it's been a problem for two filing years in a row and really needs to be corrected.
Basically, the error is extra characters in a "numeric only" field (State Payer ID Number) from an imported 1099 document. The error shows up on both the Federal and State returns but is not "caught" until the software checks the State return. Yes, you can override the specific field to correct the entry but the error is still on the Federal return and the instructions provided by the software to correct the problem need to be a bit more specific. Plus, you can't file your returns with an active "override" field.
Bottom line: these errors should be found by the software before beginning a State return, not after clicking "Transmit Returns" and the process not going through.

Turbo Tax Experience

Overall Turbo Tax 2020 performed well. The only issue I had was finding out information on the search function. It said there would be a "Jump to" option once you got to your search answer. It was never available and I had to go through all the steps to find the location that I was looking for.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
