Easy to follow - but missing some tips and tricks

I file with turbo tax since 10+ years; however my daughters are now in college- I still don't know how much to deduct to get something back. unfortunately I didn't get anything back on college expenses. I would have appreciated something like a tip (like, if you do it like this or that, you get a better refund) - so I can plan financially better for next years tax deduction. Also, I didn't get any refund for my mortgage expenses- however I entered everything which was provided by the lender (bank). Last year, I did get $$ back on this section.

Turbo tax is lacking

Most things transfer over, but some of the easy stuff that I know Turbo Tax has the info for is not there. I have to look back on last year's return for the information, so I know it's there. In the city taxes - what is your job title? Come on. And after looking close at the printed returns, I notice that the wrong account type is checked. Savings instead of checking - but only on the Federal. State is correct. Also found another box on city that wasn't checked that should have been. Glad I looked. Even if I had forgotten (which I know I didn't) Turbo tax should have alerted me that one box or the other needs to be checked (yes or no). Not sure if any of the other tax softwares are better, but this one is just ok.

My efile was rejected they quickly emailed me and allowed me to fix my error, then was able to re-efile.

This has been my passed many years of filing taxes. So easy!! Had a business prior so look at software that'll transfer. Save THOUSANDS!! Small business can use both together to maximize profits!!! I have been there! Now I'm using them to maximize $$$ to my dream of living in the BEAUTIFUL Florida Keys ! Thanks TurboTax!
