child and dependent care info

For the most part it was easy and fast, and we filed our taxes in a single morning. BUT there are 3 issues I wanted to bring up. 1. I was surprised that I had to pay extra to e-file my state taxes, I didn't realize from the packaging that "state returns" being included in the deluxe version did not also mean e-filing the state return. 2. Also, after entering the information asked about child care providers during the federal return, and then moving to the CA state return, we got stuck in a loop during the final check of the state return, where we had to "fix" some fields on form 3506, it kept asking us to provide a phone number, an address, a city and state, for the care provider, but it didn't tell us which one, and wasn't showing us the form. We couldn't figure out how to fix this problem because the software was not providing enough information about the problem or a link to the specific place on the form we needed to fix. We had to search for the issue ourselves in the actual forms. But it was also frustrating because we entered that information for the federal return, and it just didn't seem to get into the correct fields on the state form. 3. Related to the child and dependent care, during the personal information questions part in the beginning, there is an ambiguous question which we were not sure we answered properly and had to go back to change after the whole thing. It was about whether our employers offered on-site child care. Our employers are universities, and have on-site child care facilities, one of which we use, but we pay for it separately. Is the question, "do you use your employer's on-site child care services without paying out of your taxable income for it?" Is the question "does your employer provide on-site child care, regardless of whether you benefit from it?" I'm not sure what the actual question is, and how it will affect the forms downstream. It is very confusing.

I have used TurboTax Deluxe for at least 4 years and I highly recommend it to everyone
I know. It is so easy to use with step by step instructions as to what to enter, then there is the review to ensure information is valid for auditing purposes. Thank You Turbo Tax!!

Only One Problem

Using Step-by-Step for 1099-R inputs, there was no way to show that the entire amount in Box 1 was the RMD and 100% was converted to a Roth IRA. In order to input the value converted, I indicated that only a portion was converted ($0.01 less than the full amount) which then gave me the opportunity to input the full amount. This is the first time I've had a problem. I've been using TurboTax since 1997.

Best product for tax purposes. Been using Turbo Tax for about twenty years now. Will NOT use anything else. Unless I enter in the information wrong, Turbo Tax does not make a mistake. Love the easy to follow instruction, review for errors, ease of correcting an error and just the over all easy to use experience. And....I have NEVER been audited, never.

TurboTax had issues this year

I have used TurboTax for many years without any issues. However, this year I a had two significant issues. First was a scaling issue that resulted in a display screen being unusable. Fortunately, I found the solution in the help forum (reset scaling from 125% to 100%. Second issue was on the e-file payment screen. It would not allow me to proceed to the payment screen. Had to reset scaling issue and reboot to proceed.
Love your product and will continue to use. Hopefully next year is uneventful.
