Turbo Tax Bailed Me Out of a Predicament

We've always used a tax preparer to do our taxes. Normally we spend a couple of weeks packaging everything up and then have the tax preparer finalize our taxes. We used a tax preparer because we thought they had insight into various strategies and options that would save us more money. Then our tax preparer suddenly retired and moved out of the country at the last minute. We were in a bind, so we filed for an extension so we could look for another tax preparer. Then a couple of friends convinced us to try Turbo Tax. We are so glad we tried. I was surprised how thorough Turbo Tax is in helping you navigate the pros and cons of different options, methods, etc. Also, Turbo Tax prompts you and tells you about all of the potential write-offs, etc. that you need to consider. It seems Turbo Tax leaves no stone unturned.

Good program

I've used TurboTax for years and years. It is still a great tool. The Authenticator subroutine for the 2020 tax year has a problem with newer pcs. It kept locking up and stopped the sub-window display. You could go back and change the PC display resolution setting, but it would only go one additional step at a time requiring you to repeat changing the display resolution setting (to no particular value, it just needed to go thru the process of changing.) Anyway, hopefully they will get it figured out or contact me for additional details. There were no problems with it working on my older computer (about 10 years old). Both computer had Windows 10.
The "call an expert" (Edith) was extremely helpful and stayed with me as I found the work around of using my older computer. Kudos to her.

HARD FAIL: Bad link between UI and worksheet form

Sched-A / Mortgage (HELOC) create / edit UI failed to update form, forced failure at smart-check at completion of 1040 w/o sched-A, b/c standard deduction only. Major logic failure, disconnect in required flow. Would not submit eFile but did NOT reject; payment was done. Significant break, point of no return until I deleted ENTIRELY mortgage record, 1 of 3 overlapping records.

I Have trying to delete form 1099 G for the last 5 hours. You would think that would be easy NOT. The suggested "answers" are useless because they either tell me to enter things that aren't in my version of TT or they never really answer the question but go on and on and on ad nauseum about things that are just fluff. I have been using TT for the last 10 years, but they seem to have made everything "cute" but no longer useful. As a consequence I am going to miss my window to get my taxes in. It's going to cost me, but I wont be spending any more money for intuit products - ever, which is the only consolation.

Too many TT errors - Data Source Not Working

Too many flaws in this program. 1 Data Source wasn't working. 2 when I entered Unemployment at first there was no spot on your page to enter taxes with held. Very frustrating chain of events followed. I've used Turbo Tax since year one. This is the worst ever
