filing was horrible

the app kept booting me off every other minute. i logged back in about 25 times. It also wouldnt allow me to type in my real estate taxes so i lost out on more refund. i tried for over 30 min but it kept kicking me off and would not let me type numbers in any areas of this format. everything else allowed me to type.

I love Turbo tax!

I've been using since 1996. I feel very safe using them and the process is simple. They work to keep everything up to date with the current tax laws. I always recommend.

Still using it after almost 30 years

Everything worked and I am confident the math is done right. (A math error many years ago on a manually prepared return and I swore, "never again!")
A couple of silly defects this year. In the sales tax estimation process, I had to select "Andersonn" for my county, when it's "Anderson" (only one "N"). An error screen complained that on the Schedule C car worksheet "Less than 5 at a time must be entered," but didn't tell me 5 WHAT! I had to go to Forms view to find out it was about the number of vehicles a business owned. Weird. But my overall confidence in the software remains solid.

Turbo Tax is easy to use

I find that Turbo Tax is very easy and straightforward to use. They walk you through all the items to be sure no credit or deduction is missed. The It's Deductible software is free and is a big help in estimated the value of donated goods. We are very pleased with how thorough and easy to use Turbo Tax is.

Not as good as in the past

As I was finishing up my return this year, TurboTax gave me lots of very specific questions about amounts that were entered earlier with respect to "1040/1040ST" or something like that, with no explanation as to the context of the issues TurboTax was having with those numbers. I took my best guess as to how to respond. Fingers crossed.

Beware when mortgage was refinanced/transferred

Our mortgage was transferred during a refinance, and then transferred again, so we ended up with four 1098s this year for the same mortgage. I started doing my taxes early, and put in the information as requested. Things weren't computing, so I decided to wait to see if whatever bug was fixed in updates. When I finally returned to them in May (since deadline was extended), I was able to find the answer under a link listed under help. Apparently this has been an issue for a few years, and I didn't appreciate the non-transparency of the problem. In fact, we refinanced the previous year as well (with only two 1098s), and I didn't catch the problem. I'm hoping that everything went through OK last year, but now I need to go back and check (and possibly file an amended return). So frustrating...and I've finally filed, on May 16th, when I started my taxes back in February. Turbo Tax definitely disappointed this year.

I have used TurboTax for years on a PC... this year I have a MacBook Pro. Unfortunately the user experience of TurboTax on the Macbook is subpar. There is no font controls whatsoever... the "form zoom" control in preferences does nothing. It was SO hard to read the inputs.
