Turbo Tax is Challenging but Works for Us

I've used TT five years now. It's been good for us. Might have to switch to a preparer next year - we will see.

Helped me get through 2019 without any hassles. Great tool, takes a bit long to download, but that is my internet provider, not turbo tax.

I like turbo tax and have used it for 30 years...but last year with new change was very bad and frustrating....this year good again.

TurboTax is great except for 1 thing

Every year I have trouble with entering the detailed information to get the foreign tax credit. When I try to enter my foreign taxes by country, it NEVER works. I had a total of $1,281 in foreign taxes this year from 3 different brokerage firms. Could not for the life of me get anything to work by country. I almost gave up but then I decided not to enter by individual country and to use "Various" for country and "Various" for date received for each brokerage firm and enter 1 lump sum per brokerage firm. I read somewhere that one way to do it by country was to enter each dividend from a foreign country as a separate 1099-Div but after importing my brokerage information, I was not about to take a chance of messing everything up by altering the imported entries and making another dozen or so additional 1099-Div forms. You really need to fix this issue or else explain it better.

Things were going well, until I electronically submitted both Fed and Md tax returns. It was my first e-submission and said that the AGI of LAST year's taxes were incorrect. in fact, TurboTax inserted the correct # and I verified it. I've re-submitted and crossed fingers this time it works. grrrrrrrr
